vs. Venue: Estádio do Dragão Kick-off: 1945 GMT; 2:45PM EST Date: Wednesday April 15 Coverage: ESPN2; Sky Sports HD 2; TSN; streams/P2P __________________________________________________________ 1st leg: 2 (Rooney, Tevez) - 2 (Rodriguez, Mariano)
Are we getting Rio back? That's what I've seen on a couple sites, claiming that he could have played Sunderland but was rested for this. Him and Vida, rested Evra and O'Shea really should be OK at the back. We just have to win the midfield, somehow, someway, and overwhelm them up front.
Mereiles will play himself out of it, he will play a few good balls early on but will probably disappear. United need to subdue Lucho and hope that Fernando is not as effective in that holding role.
I fully believe the larger gap between matches in this leg, compared to the previous leg will have a massive influence. We rested some key players as well. Crossing my fingers that this is the match that ignites a fire. I like being considered out (or a longshot) by most people. Anderson to start? I'd like to see it. I have no idea how SAF will approach this formation wise... The back five pick themselves if Rio is fit, other than that...?
Will we be seeing the 4-5-1 again or a 4-4-2 this time? I'd like to see: VDS O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra Ronaldo Fletcher Carrick Nani Tevez Rooney or maybe... -----------Fletcher---Carrick -----Giggs----Anderson----Ronaldo -----------------Rooney
Team needs to play with greater purpose right from the kickoff than we've done over the last month or so and we've got to sustain a high level of play and energy throughout the match. I think Rooney has been superb of late and is ready to make a big impact on a crucial fixture.
this time i care how we play. i want a win and a good showing, don't care who we put out there so long as they do their jobs.
If Porto defends, I'll be coming over here after the match to hang my head in shame as you destroy us. Hopefully it's an exciting game, just like the first leg was. Both sides attacking would be great to see, and I hope it happens.
I do not deny that 2004 was a package of flukes and bad calls. Hoping this year can be different Assumed you were refering to 2004, if you were talking about Mariano, he was onside. Blamde your defence rather than the refs.
Pfff... I most definitely cannot answer that question. Milan? Wasn't really an "open" game though. Maybe Benfica a few years back?
The home leg vs Milan 2 years ago was kinda open, but we won. The away we just got spanked and could never get anything going. I can't remember the Benfica match. Roma away 2 seasons ago?
VDS O Shea (Right) Vidic Ferdinand (If not, then Evans) Evra (Left) Fletcher (Centre) Carrick (Centre) Nani (Left, could switch with Ronaldo at times) Ronaldo (Right, could switch with Nani at times) Giggs (Kind of off Rooney) Rooney --------------------------------------------------------- I wouldn't be shocked if it is similar to this, and see Tevez come off the bench. We need a strong midfield. Hoping Nani and Ronaldo can help us get a result considering they would be used to the atmosphere. Who knows, Berbatov may be used even though it looks like he is not exactly match fit. Is there a chance Gary Neville will start at right back
I hope Neville isn't out there, to be honest. And I'd be surprised if Nani gets called upon from the beginning as well.
I hope Nani starts. The confidence boost of even being selected for such a huge game would probably result in him having a great game
