It's no good having to imagine this stuff in your head so don't you guys have ANY kind of video from the game? Even video shot by fans in the stands? I looked on YouTube but didn't see anything posted yet. It seems NESN and WBZ were there so didn't they show that on your Sunday night sports show in Boston? This is the historic home opener so I'm sure you guys would want some video from it.
You overestimate the Boston news stations. One of them even admitted that they were only covering the Revs one day because the Sox were off. Boston sports hierarchy: Sox, Pats, Celtics, Bruins, BC, other colleges, high schools, soccer. A home opener or championship game might bump it up above other colleges. I'm on the lookout for highlights too, I'm stuck in Washington DC.
jrevs speaks sports Truth, and not just in Boston. But, today's Boston Globe actually did have LILLIES featured prominently on the front page: http://cache.boston.com/globe/2009/04/12/today_thumbnail.jpeg Wish I'd taped the game, though I'm not sure if WPS and/or the Breakers would frown on having hilite clips posted on youtube...
How can you tape the game when it wasn't on TV to begin with? I don't think WPS would mind having highlights on YouTube because WPS is already on there. As long as someone can put the highlights somewhere for even a few days then after we see it they can take them down.
Good Q. I thought it was on Fox Soccer Channel... but evidently they had WPS WASHINGTON-CHICAGO (live), 6 pm.
I would love it if WPS had something like MLSnet's Match Center. Even if they just had video of the games with no announcers for games that aren't televised. It is irritating to not be able to watch every game that your team is playing.
Yeah, you are exactly right. Even watching just video with no announcers would be fine. There is actually a local soccer radio show here and the host said that WPS is working on TV/radio deals. They need to get something done with tv or online viewing because radio SUCKS for soccer. It's almost as bad as matchtracker since you have to imagine everything in your head and soccer is a very visual game. It's not like baseball which is fine for radio since the players only move from 1 base to another and the fielders all stand in the same place. So we should be hearing about some other viewing options for WPS in May.
Hopefully the team can come up with some highlights, as the game was on camera for the scoreboard plus they need to make a tape to send to the other teams for scouting purposes. I also saw someone with a camera pointing at someone else with a microphone interviewing a player on the field (I'm pretty sure it was Kelly Smith but I can't remember for sure) after the match was over.
Thanks! Wish they had showed both the goals and a little more of the run of play, but I'm glad to see that they at least have them somewhere
That would actually be my preference in the first place. WPS really needs to get a couple of cameras out to each non-televised match. And that field hurts my eyes... Ouch
Thanks for the video but they talked through the highlights and they weren't referring to the highlights. They only showed the 2nd goal at the very end but what about the goal by Kelly Smith?
If you want highlights so badly, come to the game on the 14th of June and record them yourself because I think whatever is going to be released has been released. Great concrete ledges still available.
The tickets state that video recording is prohibited at Harvard. You can take still pictures only. I really liked the second goal because four different players had one touch. There was the service, the header to the middle, the pass, the shot. I saw more spurts of great team passing this game than the first, and fully expect the passing to become better.
Most, in fact I'd venture to say all of the newer digital cameras have a video function built in. I'd actually doubt if they'd care if you came with a full HD broadcast set up! Just give them a copy!
I believe the no recording policy only applies to devices designed solely for recording. A Sony Cybershot records quite well and would be viewed only as a digital camera besides, stadium rules are meant to be bent (see the Fort at Gillette).
As long as NESN got the second goal on video they also should've gotten the first goal. They were there for the entire game so no reason not to show the first goal.
Here is some video of the player intros via digital camera ... very cold & wet so not a lot of video gotten by me that night lol http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=allwer&view=videos
I'm laughing at how hard Tancredi hits their hands in the line-up ha ha.I wonder if at all she has a soft side!
Here is a quick capsule: The Boston police were understaffed and clueless so traffic was dreadful. The streamers at the beginning of the game from our fans was awesome. The field was so slick that three connected passes would put you in the soccer hall of fame. The line to the ladies room at Halftime went all the way to Harvard Yale. Lilly, Mitts, Smith, Scott and Luckenbill were awesome. The beer tent was cold but worth it. My butt doesn't like concrete seats. After you dug your car out of the mud in the parking lot it was about an hour out of the stadium parking lot. The Breakers' Party in front of the gate looked awesome but wet. A great opener at home and as soon as my cold ends I will cheer-up!!!
Yeah ONE ladies room at the far end of the stadium, I had to pass 4 mens rooms to get there. They need to update that place a bit.
