Seriously Im not kidding, there new FO owned group is called Barra Real. the story behind this is the FO wanted to have a latino group for there supporters, so they decided to name them what? Barra Real! WTF! I really wish I was kidding.
I break with thee I break with thee I break with thee *splat* [/Steve Martin] Man, sure beats the potential violence involved in my divorce discussions, I like it
I have to agree with Pauly here. It is quite annoying. If it was a new group created by actual supporters I could actually look at it as a form of flattering initiative that recognizes that the Barra has set the standard in this league. On the other hand, being just a corporate marketing ploy it is one more reason for me to fuel my unresolved anger issues... So, RSL (mo)FO(s): all you deserve in life is a job that makes you use your toothbrushes to clean toilets at Rio Tinto stadium. We can send you to a toilet scrubbing seminar managed by the CSC....
I am shocked to discover that the front office of a team named 'Real Salt Lake' would coopt the shared name off supporter-created ultra groups for demographic-tailored marketing purposes. Shocked and amazed, I say.
It's kind of funny that Barra Brava members would be complaining. After all "Barra Brava" is about as generic as it gets. It would be like a group that draws on Anglo traditions calling itself "Supporters Club".
Barra [brava] is a general term for a group, just like ultras or torcida is. That's the price you pay, just like there's Ultras San Jose and Ultras Montreal and 82365832 other groups named Ultras [City]. Irony of Real Salt Lake doing it tho...
Thats what I was getting at. If it was supporters doing it, ok I can live with it, but its the FO that made the name for them that i think is horseshit. theres other latino groups around they world they could of used there name, but with MLS still small, theres enough names not to have to steal each others names in the same league, ESP by the FO of a club!
no group made by club in the history of the world ever amounted to anything so if that's true I wouldn't be worried they'll be around by the time this thread ends
