any one have a certificate of A+ or/plus a N+ certificate? can you just get a job with it? or would a associates degree look good too?
I'd say the more you have the better. Honestly, I know people with a masters degree that cant get a job. Sometimes, the best way to get your foot in the door in a company is to take a contract position for a real entry level tech position like maybe helpdesk. If you're good, they'll usually offer to make you a permanent employee. I've seen alot of people get in that way and made it far. Let me not forget to say, luck also has alot to do with it. Yeh am planning on getting my A soon but at the moment i will volunteer at that IT center at Mount. Sinai Hospital so that after i get my A certificate and theirs a job opening at the Hospital they already know me!
Getting A+ and Network+ certs will certainly help you get a job on a help desk, but having those certifications and a degree will be much better. Personally, I would get the certs and start on the degree, but try to get a job, too. It is tough to work a full time job and go to school, but you wouldn't be the first. Besides, your school work and job will always be reinforcing eachother allowing you to better understand both and be a better tech. Additionally, doing both will give you the knowledge and experience to pursue "higher" certifications like MCSE and CCNA.
^^ you know that I am volunteering at a hospital IT center and i start thursday and one of the guys that hiries tolled me that i can get a job thier with just a A+ certificate. but what you tolled is what I am going to do.
