I would love it if the full power of the Barra got behind this. Even 1,000 people would be noticeable.

We can't let United go without a fight. It's the least we can do before we get to tailgating.

IMO it's better if the SGs organize this anyway - from a PR perspective it looks better than coming from the team.

I was in Annapolis and you can count me and Riz in for this of course.

IF we can get the crowds, then it's a great idea.

If we cannot, then it will look weak and can hurt the cause.

We'd need to push hard and make sure every body shows up, which, in my world, means delaying the tailgate for the Barra or ending it early for the march. I worry that too many folks will skip the march if there's food and drink waiting for them in Lot 8.

We definitely would need a couple of thousand to make a real impact. I'll run it by El Jefe tonight and see what he thinks...

The tailgate would definitely be delayed. There would be some cold brews at the end of the march because we couldn't march with open containers. If we do it we have to be totally serious about doing it. As much as our members love the Barra and the team I think I can safely say a lot will jump on board.

Walk from Lot 8. We would need the team to open the parking lots early...

Ask the team to open up lots early, park at RFK, walk to march and then march back to RFK. The park is not far from RFK at all

This. Also, Blondie has mad skills re: communications. Just sayin'. :D

Create an incentive (like say, the kegs don't get tapped until after the march) and th enumbers will flow. Probably good to coordinate a stadium-related tifo too, but I defer to Mr. Srdan there. ;)

Chico, let me know what I can do if this gets the go-ahead. I am happy to help in any way possible.

The teams been notified. Let's let this brew over the weekend and see what other ideas/suggestions come up. Then maybe we can get a sitdown with Paul, Oscar, Dougg and Payne or Zack.

start somewhere other than lincoln park.....the people who live there doesnt give a shit one way or another....if we want to make a stand and really show something i hate to say this but we should march over to poplar point and anacostia to show dc council that we could do over there....even grab a drink in one of the bars there (yeah itll be wierd, but better than the people on the hill who really dont care, trust me i live there)

Uhhh...what bars are there in poplar point?? The point isn't to get a drink, it's to be seen. Plus, that'd be too long of a march to get enough people on, dude. We're not trying to convince the people on the hill, we're trying to convince the council/Fenty.

im not saying to drink, but to show the money that could be put into anacostia if they did this right over there.
the march from lincoln to RFK is pointless, its going by people WHO DONT CARE one way or another! we have to go somewhere to show the people who make decisions what we are capable of!

Maybe we set up a simulated bar and order simulated drinks with simulated money. :)

but were going after the WRONG people....what will this show? how can we guarentee anyone will see this? tv? radio? dc council even going to know?
cap hill people arent the ones we need to show, Anacostia or hell go down to the council, but were going after the wrong people doing this. im sorry but i have to respectfully disagree with this ide at where its being held.

(and Chelsea comes before the cherry blossoms unless Blossom herself came out)

Well not exactly. First, you're wrong. Plenty of folks who live on the Hill care. That's like saying no one in Adams Morgan cares. It's silly. I live there too and see plenty of DCU gear on any given day. But I'll set that aside.

Next, WHERE we march is irrelevant. If you get a couple thousand people (which is ALOT by the way and will take a MASSIVE effort) the media shows up. We get a few of the council members who are supportive to march with. The MEDIA reports on what happened and it is broadcast via the magical television waves to everyone.

Finally, the people who MAKE the decisions do NOT live in Poplar Point. They don't live in any one place - in fact, I think they live in their Wards (could be wrong there). If they do we'd have to march all over the damn city.

You want to march on the decision makers, we march on City Hall. But we'd have to do that on a work day and you lose TONS of people. Including folks like me and James who have jobs that are regular 9-5 types and can't just ditch work to support United, no matter how much we care about the team.

well yeah they care about the team, but there not the people we need to go after.
and I just dont see the media on a saturday afternoon going googaga over a march fm lincoln park to the stadium.
now 6000k people in anacostia, yeah there be there in a sec.
and yes i know they dont LIVE in poplar point, but it SHOWS the potential and what there missing out on

    Posting at the same time...

If we do this - of course we let the council know. And of course we need the media to show up. Otherwise, it's just silly. It will require a massive communications effort.

Enough of the debate. Paulie, shut up. Walk the f-ing mile after drinking a few beers in the park. if you want you can whine to me, I'm management, I'm used to ignoring the minions!

It's a good idea. I don't have the patience to debate you.

    Show up and walk.
