The Borough Boys officially met with the President of FC New York. Here it is detailed in two articles (here, and here)

What better way to link a club to its supporters? What do you think?

The People's Club begins.....and the hope for MLS ends.

Petersen said the “MLS model is not good for us in terms of acquiring players, transfer fees and perspective partners. … There is no plan today to go to MLS.”

Compliments to st Louis and Montreal for 2012 expansion.

Napoli, Wilpon hasn't said anything in last Sept. and from the looks of the Madoff scandal it looks like he was hurt more than he's willing to admit.

Neither way, FCNY will play in 2010, instead of 2012. That's almost two years earlier. If anything NYC is going to win because we are going to get PRO soccer sooner than we had anticipated.

Going back to Wilpon, honestly, this team was his to lose. He fell asleep and someone else came in and took it out from underneath him.

Hey maybe he can buyout FCNY in the future but to be honest from what I heard last night, I really hope that's not the case. Wilpon doesn't seem to have the grasp of the game and understanding of the game like Doug has.

For now, I say we all support FCNY and see what happens.

Your speaking in your personal opinion of course.

to me its opposite - sounds like wants to work on the academy level more than MLS will let him!

I think this team precludes the possibility for an MLS team to come to NYC. Having three soccer teams in one area oversaturates the market, as such it would be a pretty bad idea to bring a team here. The only hope IMO is for this USL team to pull a Seattle, Portland, Vancouver and Toronto and find more ownership and join MLS. If another MLS team never comes to NYC because of FCNY I'll be sad. MLS is where the best play, players, stadiums, fans and access to international competition is. That will be missed.

However, I'm going to support FCNY in hopes of a Dave led bid for MLS in 2012 and in spite of it if the bid never materializes. FCNY gives me a chance to finally have club team to support and I'm excited. Here's to a Rochester away game while I'm at Cornell, it's only a 2 hour drive :)

How does one go about making a banner, or possibly a two stick? Cause I have an idea I want to run with but have no idea how to actually make it happen.

One has nothing to do with the other.

If some sports minded billionaire (Wilpon, Bloomberg, Charles Wang, Hank Steinbrenner) could build a 20K seat stadium and wanted to start an MLS team in NYC, it would happen. The existence or location of FCNY would be irrelevant to MLS, just as the existence of the Toronto Lynx was irrelevant to MLS expanding into Toronto.

I think that there are similarities and differences between the two situations, primarily the Lynx drew flies and I think this team will do better. Though it's possible we won't do any better with attendance and we'll be the speck that MLS will brush away just like the Lynx.

However I hope for a bigger impact by FCNY, on the level of the Impact (hehe) or the Timbers and in that case I think FCNY has some level of power in the NY soccer scene.

Oh and Nick I've been lurking the borouh boys boards for awhile, I just haven't posted.
