Well with the USL dominating the East Coast with teams and the MLS in the West, why dont we just divide the country in two? England has EPL, which is thier only top league but England is small compared to the United States. So why don't we make two professional League in this one country with the USL in the East and the MLS in the west.. They would both have their respective champion through their league systems, this way the rivalries would always grow in each league. And maybe at the end of the year have like a Recopa cup where the champ of both leagues play each other. And no!! its not the MLS 2 division bullshit.. This is so the leagues have less ground to cover and they will grow with in each other. Just a thought...I dont know what do yall think?

I don't see the MLS leaving New York with Red Bull Arena around the corner. Toronto too.

I think it's a terrible idea. Is MLS then just going to shut down New England, New York, Columbus, Chicago, and Toronto? Those cities definitely aren't West Coast...

In fact, its such a horrendous idea, I couldn't begin to list all the ways it practices some unsound business methods. This thread should be blown up, its ashes incinerated, then fed to a small dog to poop out.

I second your post, not to mention that the OP needs to go back to Geography class if they think MLS is a West coast league.

You also have some rep coming your way my friend for the great word picture.

You obviously have not drank the USL koolaid yet. Shame on you.

I would be very content to have the USL continue to be a fantastic source for future MLS players and clubs as the official USL press releases are constantly telling me.

OK I guess not, bad idea bad idea, but this country is way too large to have a one division league, with no promotion relegation, but I guess, I did say just a thought, and yea USL, should not be second division... MLS is the US league.... MLS sucks and USL rules!!! Moderator please shut this down..thank you

Prior to the recent MLS Pacific Northwest expansion and the return of the San Jose Earthquakes, MLS had exactly TWO clubs on the actual West Coast (LAG and CUSA). Four if you count the Mountain States as "West Coast" (ie, CR and RSL). That's four out of what was then a dozen teams. The OP is an ignoramus.

Also let's not forget MLS still doesn't have a team in the entire Southeast; nothing south of DC or east of Houston. USL seems to be rectifying the situation in Florida at least as we might have three teams in Florida in USL1 in 2010; but Tampa Bay Rowdies at least are a natural for future MLS expansion at some point, too, so I could see MLS picking off the most successful Southeastern USL clubs in future, the same way they did in the Pacific Northwest.

USL is the natural "minor league" in North American soccer, and I don't see what's wrong with that.
