Yeah probably, I don't question his defensive ability in that area. I am question his offensive ability. He needs to move into space more when we have the ball. I agree. If we score first we will win this god damn game.
Quotes from the "Modest One": «Se todos os jogadores fizessem o que faço na selecção já tínhamos sido campeões do Mundo» - Ronaldo Ronaldo também não foi tímido na hora de dizer que Suécia espera este sábado no Dragão: «Vão jogar à defesa, fechados, porque se jogassem ao ataque sofriam dois ou três golos.»
I like it. I feel hes need to push the team. But, he needs to act like he talks when the time comes, otherwise its no good. This is definitely our biggest game for the 2010 SA campaign yet.
I hope we ********ing smash them. We need it, all of Portugal needs it. THIS IS THE GAME The tunring pointt, everything hinges on this match. I think of it like in 2006 QF when we tied Liechenstein 2-2 and we were behind Slovakia and Russia in the group. We then ********ing annihilated Russia 7-1 with magical performances by Ronaldo, Deco, Maniche, Carvalho, Miguel, and Andrade This is the game, we have to play great, we have to win. We ned the confidence resulting from that..this is a young team whose balls are against the wall..we dont get a convincing result here.......
wtf is with queiroz seems liek every game he says "This game is important but not decisive" go f*ck yourself, this game is a must win if Portugal losses they will be hanging around Malta at the bottom of the table after 5 games which is a fking embarassment.
Im watching the game live now. Benfica's losing 1-0, goal by Joao Tomas in the 28th minute. Felipe Bastos is playing pretty well. Nuno is too. Ribiero is LB and Sidnei and Luiz are CBs. Urreta is upfront with Gomes. Balboa is RM. Amorim LM? WTF? Bastos and Yebda at CM. Estadio da Bessa is jam packed to capacity. I miss Boavista in the 1st division. Its a mini derby when Benfica plays them. Felipe Bastos, Urreta and Joao Tomas are stealing the show. Very enteraining match, especially considering its a friendly. Sorry for the off topic, but there is no point in making a Boavista-Benfica thread in a friendly match.
I also read this in "A Bola" and had to stop myself from dying of laughter. I love CR and think that the man is a great player for Man U but he is a total bust when playing for hte national team.
Hes not a bust. He plays in a different system, and is probably still our most dangerous player. Hes not the only one under performing here...
In all honesty, take CR away from ManU and he will never become the World Player of the Year again. The players at ManU make Ronaldo what he is.
Yeah, it was quite nice to be there and it reminded me of older days. Panteras Negras chanted all game long (i'm aware there was no organized support in the other side) like they've always done throughout the whole Vitalis campaign. And believe it or not, they're still the best non-Big 3 organized fan group. The presence of Benfica was a mix of feelings for many boavisteiros but i'm sure they all agree that it made the match more competitive. Shame for all the insulting chantics directed to some Benfica players and institution but I guess that's part of latin football. Boavista won 150 000 euros due to this initiative. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now, speaking of Portugal - Sweden, I went out last night after the game and there was plenty of swedish around. So, the prediction of 3000 on their side is accurate. I'm going to SuperDragões side (even if I didn't want to) and i'm anxious to live this game intensily. PORTUGAL!
According to O Record, the only position that Queiroz hasnt decided on is who will play forward, Almeida or Danny. Rest of the team looks like this - Eduardo ? - ? - ? - Duda Pepe Ronaldo - ? - ? - Simao Almeida or Danny These idiots write like they know the starting lineup but only list half the team....morons.
Homie...you better throw all your pride aside for this. And sing your ass off for the game. Just start yelling if you need to, rally the troops god damn it!
No? They helped you, of course, but I think the system in which they play in helps him more then anything. Ronaldo, should have finished with 43 and 20 assists last year. He only finished in single digits in that category. Who was really helping who that season?
Projected lineup per ABOLA - Eduardo Bosingwa - Carvalho - Alves - Duda Pepe - Maniche Ronaldo - Deco - Simao Almeida
I'm comfortable with that. Pepe to hold it down, and Manich to be the link. I think a goal is going to come from Duda being involved.
Almeida will be subbed in the 70th and watch us attack only then. I'm so glad Maniche is starting he shows up when we need it most.
HE IS A TOTAL BUST AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL! If he wants to be considered a great player then he needs to win a WC or the EC. Great players, Pele in 58 and 70, Maradona in 86, Platini in 84, Zidane in 98, Scheimchel in 92 and Van Basten in 88 take control of the big stage and make it their own. CR has not done this for various reasons and has done NOTHING that prove that he is a great player at the INTERNATIONAL level. (And his statements, as quoted in several papers, are ridiculous!) He is, of course, a great player at club level. One of the top players in along with Messi, Kaka, Buffon and Casillas. Hes not a bust. He plays in a different system, and is probably still our most dangerous player. Hes not the only one under performing here...[/quote]
So Figo is not a great player? Eusebio? Rui Costa? Your argument is slightly irrational. I understand where you are coming from, I absolutely adore International futebol, and regard it in high class compared with club futebol. I can understand its emotional, I get just as emotional and question Ronaldo ability at times for in the red shirt as well. But Ronaldo is still, literally, in the begging of his career. If he does ever win a EC or a WC, his case will be that more refutable. But right now, I would say hes on the right path. Also, he is one of our most consistent players on the International level. He has recently had a dip in form, but just check the active roster. He is our top scorer...and thats if you go only by goals....
I'm glad to have Almeida play. He will cause them lots of problems in the back with his physique and heading ability. Almedia should make life easier for CR and the rest of the attacking players. I'm praying for a 1-0 victory. If we don't get three points today it will mean goodbye SA and the return to the 1970's and 1980's of Portuguese soccer. Forza Portugal!!!!
