Richard Jata currently with the Chicago fire supposeably meeting with the battery this weekend

    http://gocamels.blogspot.com/2009/03/rookie-life-mls-combine.html

midfield player that looks like he has the skill from the video I found on him on Youtube . If he can adapt to the level of play he could be pretty good

Tom Heinemann, F, Rockhurst University, 6-4 (USA) was there for the Battery Coastal carolina match from Columbus Crew.

and ischia05 is reporting that Bermudez has signed a contract and he was right about Alcantara and Faife not signing.

Soon after Alcantara's departure fron the Battery, Bermudez was on his way to Austin Aztecs as he too was getting dicked around by Anhauser and only then in fear of loosing him to the other team he was signed to a 2 year deal. I guess the Battery should be announcing the news soon.

There's a word for this.......N-E-G-O-T-I-A-T-I-O-N.....this is a business, first and foremost....we fans are just along for the ride.

RHB--you haven't used up all the duct tape yet, have you?

Let me go so far as to say this... the Battery's biggest problem last term, especially as the season wore on, was a lack of scoring punch up front. Patterson vanished due to a variety of reasons (long season, being marked stronger, etc.) and, really, there was no other help for him up front. It will be interesting to see how that plays out this term.

The word is U-n-p-r-o-f-e-s-s-i-o-n-a-l.....if this was business then we fans wouldn't be upset having players up front that have no punch and demand MLS type salaries and produce nothing.

RHB-- If you used up all the duct tape, I've got more!

So im taking it you know what the players on the team are demanding? Seriously get off your high horse. The more i read your comments the more i realize youre not really a fan of the battery just someone who is trying to get the true fans worked up over certain players and at the front office. Sorry to say it hasnt worked. I would LOVE to actually meet you in person at a Battery game and have a discussion about the team because i really dont believe anything you have to say with the exception of the 1 truth so far about alacantra (him not getting signed) and thats it.

And wasnt youre guy Alacantra demanding the MLS type salary since he came from MLS? I think anyone who comes to the USL is NOT expecting an MLS type salary and if they are they better not only be producing 2 goals a game but bringing in a couple thousand fans as well as bringing in more season ticket holders.

And the word is U-n-k-n-o-w-l-e-d-g-e-a-b-l-e as in You

First and foremost, Alcantara is not my guy! Second, if you read my posts you would notice that I said Alcantara refused the offer from the Battery "not getting signed" as you put it means he was let go, two very different things. I also announced Bermudez's signing well before anyone out there and the fact that Fife was cut are news that is still no where out there yet any could be interesting to some few fans who follow these players. Perhaps, you don't give a damn about 3 cubans but I do. Patterson and Akwari are to name a few players who are amongst the players expecting big signings and frankly last season Patterson did not impress me much.

And the word is N-O S-U-B-S-T-A-N-C-E as in you.

    ;)

Actually there is one cuban i care about but unfort. we lost him in the off season to a team called Seattle. Patterson was an offensive weapon that was deadly in the first half of the season and Alonso broke out because Patterson was being marked every game hard. Guess you really didnt pay to much attention the WHOLE season. And who put us ahead in the game against Seattle last year in the semi-finals of the US Open Cup in penalties...oh thats right Akwari. He was great all season long. "Youre 3 Cubans" as you call them didnt impress me at all. And with the limited time EVERYONE got during the CCC there were plenty of other players that impressed me.

Ya know if youre player Alacantra knew how to be onside....the goal he tapped in against RSL may have counted and we could've gotten a point.

And you claimed first and foremost that he already had a contract and then said he was promised one and then said he said no to the offer....so which is it. Please if youre gonna make up crap....at least keep it consistant. Your story hasnt held ANY water in ANY thread.

Mister Obvious, so what you are saying is that there is a player who is on the way to the battery to play some footie? By what you said, he has to be a forward, am I right?

We have a forward and a midfielder coming, who were both starters on their previous teams.

Jata was playing today. Heinemann is still here, but hamstring injury. Story on him was Columbus wanted to keep him, but didn't have a spot. There was a Liberian guy named Adam Smart playing and wearing the number 10 shirt. There was also a Canadian under 20 guy, that Mark brought back from T&T.

very nice, were starting to put together a nice squad. We still have some more unknown players coming in so it is shaping up to be a wild last week before the season starts.
