Since Canada will have 2 teams, why don't MLS have a team in Mexico?

MLS is not a league for the United States, as we see teams from Canada.

So, I was thinking why not have a team in Mexico?

Tijuana? that will be a good rival city for LA teams right?

And Mexicans are very passion about Soccer (futbol) so I am sure we can have good numbers for MLS income.

    right?

FIFA wouldn't approve it. That nation has their own league. Canada only has a couple cities that could support it, just like cities from Wales play in the English Leagues and Monaco playing in France (with one goal in France and the other in Monaco). FIFA allows it in those cases.

I am not mexican but I know they have a lot of projects coming up
This stadium will have 3300 seats
I am not sure if you watch soccer from other countries
but Mexico has almost every soccer game sold out
They love soccer and they support their local teams
    with passion and love

The stadium renderings are interesting. But Bryan's right - Mexico already has its own league.

That, if for no other reason, is why there aren't any Mexican clubs in MLS.

If I am not wrong Canada has their league too.
    http://www.canadiansoccerleague.ca/

that league may not be successful as the mexican league, that shouldn't be MLS problem to add canadian teams to have soccer presence.

Its just dumb to see MLS American League with canadian teams.

I thought Americans had more pride about their projects.

Mexico has their own League which at this point is ahead of MLS in terms of talent and CONCACAF glory. They also have teams in lower divisions in just about every city and use a relegation system much like that of European clubs. There would be no point to expand into the MLS when they already have such an established and superior(at this point) league.

USA/Canada are very special in terms of sports. We share teams in the NBA, MLS, NHL, and MLB. The common language makes things easier, the close economic ties makes things easier, easy travel between the two countires, and the common shared history makes things easier.

From a soccer stand point, the US and Canada have shared teams in leagues (ie USL) for years so it is a natural fit. We also don't use a relegation system like Europe or indeed the rest of the world so we are in out own little Soccer world. In terms of sports, you might as well consider us the same country as we share teams in ever major league but the NFL.

Ok, correction, Mexico has thier own FIFA accredited First tier status league. The Canadian Soccer League isn't even second tier on the soccer pyramid, I believe. So, ie Canada has no First or Second tier league.
I couldn't help it once the CSL was brought up.

technically, MLS could expand into mexico, if i'm not mistaken, but only with the permission of the mexican FA. of course, why the hell would the mexican FA ever agree to that? they have their own (very successful) league and teams of every shape and size in pretty much every city.
also, i'm pretty sure the mexican league actuall tried to expand into the US at one point, but the USSF shot it down. isn't that what eventually led to Chivas USA? (i'm pretty sure i read this somewhere. someone help me out here)

and this is coming from the guy that has bitched about Canada being in MLS in pretty much every post i have ever seen you make. what makes mexico so different? you make no sense.

Not right. Mexico has an established successful league, the Primera Division de Mexico founded in 1946. Fans there dont work like they do here. A random team that was formed just because from a USA based league wouldnt catch on to well. why would they support a potentially crappy team from a USA based league when they have established teams with an established fan base and potentially a long history. theres also a language barrier.

Canada has teams because any team founded in canada would have a huge fan base instantly due to the fact that the best teams are USL. the CSL might as well compete with northern american high school teams. And I actually think that the varsity team at my high school has drawn more fans than any CSL team.

Mexico has a team in pretty much every city, and i doubt the mexican fa would approve

This guy is clearly trolling. I've seen him make anti-Canadian expansion posts before.

I love when someone comes along, usually someone with an (apparently) ESL-grasp of English, makes an obviously beyond-the-realm-of-reality post, doesn't reply to any of the responses, and 45 people pile in to say something. I do.

Off topic, but for this thread that would be a blessing. Do you think the Mexican supporters groups complain that their stadiums don't have full roof coverage? Everyone know that a SSS should have a full roof

CSL is pretty much a joke. Being from Detroit, we had the PDL Michigan Bucks host Windsor Border Stars for a pre-season friendly and the Bucks stomped em...I think it was like 3 or 4-1. Granted the Michigan Bucks are one of the better PDL organizations year in and year out but still the majority of the CSL isn't even on PDL level.

Actually LA was suppose to have a team that was going to play in the Mexican league but im pretty sure it was during the 80's if Im not mistaken. An LA team that plays in the MFL would be killer. Im sure the games would be sold out for every game. A game between Guadalajara and LA Azteks would be a Mexican living in the US dream come true.

This guy is trying to stir the pot.

He knows full well that Mexico won't get a MLS team and doesn't even want a MLS team. He is also well aware that asking an American player to play in Vancouver or Toronto is one thing and even seen as a perk by some. Playing in Monterrey or Tijuania with the recent news reports that drug-lord-Armageddon is taking place is out of the question.

    He is a troll.

Probably because the MFL won't allow it.....

I agree. Wales and Monaco have small nations and they are really small teams....well Monaco was big for a while but Cardiff and Swansea never did much....Canada really only has 3 maybe 4 cities that can support a team like Toronto, Montreal , Vancouver maybe Ottawa and Edmonton but that is about it. Also, because of their history with the USA in sports leagues NHL,NBA, MLB and the NASL, I'd think that is also another reason why FIFA and Concacaf doesn't really care all that much if they play in the MLS or not...if anything I'd think they are happy about it...
