Average looking. There's also a dime and a half, which is even better than a dime.

Doesn't Sacramento have a huge Ukrainian community as well as a sizeable Russian one ?

We just refer to it as one big "Slavic community." But if you broke it down there are way, way, way more people from the Ukraine. Everybody just refers to themselves as Russian(myself included) to aviod confusion for the geographically limited Americans. One women at work actually thought Ukraine was "like a state of Russia". Except Zapadentsi, they'll let you know that there not Russian.

    My how you disappoint me.....:p

I mean I knew about San Fran but I never figured Sacramento had a big slavic community. Did Vlade and Peja make it popular or something?

Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc)

no, russians started comming to sac in waves in late '80's eraly '90's. According to last census (2000) there were 100,000 russian/ukrainian speakers living in the greater sacramento area, and that number has only grown. Most of the religous refuges went to Sac, Portland, Seattle. Thats why alot of people probably dont know there's some much russian here because we dont have a "party" reputation such as LA, Frisco, Chicago, NY, Miami.

And what do you mean "my how you dissapoint me."?

Hahaha, man I was just kidding about Vlade and Peja. Would have never known though, there's got to be some nice pick up footy in Sac town. We've got a good collection here in Indy but some of the better guys are starting to get old, 5-10 years ago we had some amazing games. Saturday's were good but seemed like the best games were played Tuesday nights in the summer, probably cause it was not as hot Don't know how Goliath and co. do it in Miami.

'The' Ukraine, some people get offended by that :D

Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc)

We're getting old too. The original cast that strted our team back in early 1990s is getting old. And we were all products of the Soviet football school. The new generation maybe younger, stronger, and, due to their age, faster than us. But they suck in team play.

And this whole "Russian" thing. Back in 1999, our Greek opponents called me and my friend Yura, both from Kyiv (from the same public school #71, actually), the "Russian Wall". We sorta liked it as this was a sign of respect from our opponents, even though not technically correct. We used be the deadliest central defense these guys faced, almost literally. These youngsters that play in our positions nowadays run around like chickens without heads.

Yura gave up about 2-3 years ago, and I was forced out with chronic knee injuries in 2008.

The thing about South Florida, though, is that there is an amalgamation of dozens of various ethnic groups, each of which puts football above anything else. Every amateur league has a collection of Romanian, Russian, Israeli, Greek, Brazilian, Brazilian, Brazilian, Brazilian, Brazilian, Argentinian, Colombian, Serb, Turkish, etc, teams. It's almost like a small World Cup out there. It's got flavor, it's got national pride, sometimes even blood vendetta. I miss it.

 i thought i had repressed these memories

Fandorin = where mexicans serve mafia. located by the airport
particularly enjoyed the free strip show + lesbian make out done by two underage ukranian girls. owner even paid them a few benjamins each in front of my eyes.the joint simply oozes class :p
note* go to the Benihana's next door, even the marriott should be cheaper

Russia House = You don't need directions, it's just off the 101, first exit after Candlestick park/49'ers stadium. you can't miss the neon lit building sitting on top of the hill, over looking both directions of traffic. Neighborhood isn't really that bad unless you go a few blocks down.. that's where you start to see burger kings with armed guards, crackheads standing on every corner and some zombie like creatures shuffling around. I drove by there on new year's eve, exactly 10 minutes before midnight. suddenly i see this car ahead, parked sideways in the middle of the road. this lad drove his prelude into the muni train-tracks. half the car was in the air from the foot-tall curb it jumped, with one of the the tires laying a few feet away. he was just sitting there in the driver seat staring into the abyss, parked in the middle of the train-tracks, missing a wheel, on new year's. what a surreal and depressing place - which in a nutshell, is exactly how i would describe russia house.

yes, it has been "cleaned up". they fired their bouncer...trust me, stick to the geary bakery's.

That's 7 goals in 5 matches since he returned from the injury. I'd say Voronin had been quite prolific. Even though it was Energie Cottbus, still, scoring a hat-trick in Bundesliga is no walk in the park.

I'm afraid its starting to look that way. Some of the scorelines I've been seeing are ridiculous, and these Bosnians scoring like this as well.....wth is up with that?

Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc)

The reason is because "the Ukraine" refers to a region, and does not denote the fact that Ukraine is a country. Personally, this is something very stupid to get upset over, in my opinion.

Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc)

While "THE UKRAINE" is nothing to get get worked up over, still, technically, this is incorrect for several reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that the Region of "THE UKRAINE" does not match the territory of the state of UKRAINE. The Southern Galicia and parts of Bolhoroschyna are considered parts of the geographic region of THE UKRAINE but are not parts of Ukraine the state.
