    2009 Expansion Team Announced.

    It's Classico time in Miami.....

Last night the FESL home officed announced it's newest club team for the 2009 FESL season and beyond. Former 3rd Division USL club team the Palm Beach Pumas will be making the switch to the FESL and will start playing out of the city of Miami. The Pumas will be joining fellow expansion side Miami Haiti International as inner city rivals and already has some claiming the future match up's to be the best series of the yet to be played season.

The Pumas, now known as the Miami Pumas SC, will be fronted by longtime club president and USL Hall of Fame member, Bobby Lennon. The Pumas will be playing out of North Miami Stadium in the Opa-Locka area, with select dates to take place at Flamingo Park. More club information will be announced in the coming weeks, including tryout information and club signings.

Jerome Bonpied Peterson, owner of the newest FESL franchise, Miami Haiti International is looking to switch his resume from former member of the Haitian National Team to current member. Peterson will be suiting up for Miami Int and will be looking to catch the eyes of his club's supporters and also the Haitian National Team coaching staff. The thirty year old Peterson was capped with the National Team untill 2005 and was also a trialist with the NY/NJ Metrostars and Miami Fusion. Known for his love of his home country, Peterson has been running a local youth organization that helps get Haitian children off of the streets of Miami and Dade County and onto the soccer field. This season will undoubtly see the respect turn over as the many children and parents who have been reached out to by Peterson will surely reach out to him on the pitch when he suits up for Miami Haiti International.

Working on the site... doing the yearly clean up on it. It should be accessable by tonight. As mentioned above you can get to the site via the backdoor link listed above... this way u can still get your FESL fix and I can work on the site without much lag due to normal traffic.

Why isn’t the FESL affiliated with USSF?

Long story short, the AAU gave us the chance to grow and be a bit more flexable without having to conform ourselves to standards and rules that could of handcuffed our growth.

The USSF is a great thing and I'd expect to see the FESL and USSF to be on the same page in the very near future. The FESL has big plans for the US Open Cup and without a proper USSF affiliation we will not able to play within the Open Cup, so keep your eyes open for a possible allignment with the powers that be.

    You Make The Call....

From time to time the FESL will put you in the shoes of the center ref and let you make the call. It's not easy being the man in charge, do you think you can make the right call ?

Visit the supporter's section at feslsoccer.com and put yourself in the shoes of the center ref.

Yes more will be added... however not all teams hold tryouts as some clubs choose to make their trials on an invitation only basis.

Dates, info and the like will be announced in the near future.

Breakers to hit the pitch in 2010

After long discussions between the front offices of the Breakers and the FESL, both parties have choosen to unveil the Breakers in 2010.

The FESL and the Breakers are both fully committed to putting out a top flight team for the panhandle community, however as with all ongoing aspects of the FESL the main commitment is to the sport of soccer and it's growth within the state of Florida and beyond. With Panama City already being home to the newly founded Panama City Pirates of the USL, both the FESL and the Breakers will wait one more year so that the Pirates can continue to grow their product without any potential conflict between the USL and the FESL.

FESL League Commissioner Andre Ruette was quoted on Friday as saying, " Phil Rose and his staff brought forth a wonderful business plan for the Breakers that would of helped to further elevate the league's growth both on and off the field. While the league will always put it's players and fans first, we are also committed to the development of soccer within the state of Florida. We have determined that the best solution to further help the sport develop within the panhandle region was to begin play in 2010, so that the Pirates of the USL could further grow their product unabated from the Breakers or the FESL. Everyone within the FESL is very much looking forward to seeing the Breakers enter into the league, however we are even more enthralled at the prospect of having two fully thriving teams within the panhandle. Additionally, 2010 will also see the immergance of other teams within the region as the league plans to unveil additional expansion franchises in the Tallahassee and Gainsville areas."

The Breakers will be launching their official website in the coming weeks along with additional club information pertaining to their official launch in 2010.

    Jacksonville's Taylor get's U-20 call up

Jacksonville FC striker Tony Taylor was recently called into the USA U-20 team by coach Thomas Rongen. Currently Taylor has been playing in the FESL offseason for Jacksonville University where has compiled an impressive tally of 6 goals and 4 assists for JU in an injury shortened season.

Next up for Taylor will be the Concacaf U-20 Championships in Trinidad & Tobago which take place from March 6-20.

Any chance that the FESL will be expanding to the Bay area? Clearwater or Tampa. I know Carlos Valderrama runs a club in Clearwater that was planning on entering the USL, but that has been pretty quiet as of late. Would be nice to see them in the FESL.

Tampa and the west coast are coming into the FESL in 2010.

To my understanding Carlos is more of a face for the Galactics organization then a board member, etc... They have a cool little set up going on but I think the current status of the economy have hurt them a little. I may be wrong but I think the USL isn't in their plans at the moment.

It seems that the FESL tends to work with existing organizations, which is much nicer than reinventing the wheel. I had not heard anything on the USL front from the Galactics, so naturally assumed that the FESL might be a better fit for them. Would also be nice to see a reserve team for the USL Rowdies in the FESL.

What's the deal with Orlando FC? I just read on the blog that they were voted out of the league. Is this just for the upcoming season or is this forever?

Seems my buddy at the Insider enjoyed his hotel experience a little too much. He's partially correct about Orlando FC... they may not play this season but Orlando FC is still at this moment apart of the FESL. Ownership is changing hands.
