Ok peeps, what do you think???? Does l'OM really want to have an extended run? We all want to see l'OM knock off Lyon, but will that really happen. Time to revenge the 2004 season & take the trophy home.

Niang and Cana will be back, at least on the bench, which is nice. No Brandao or WIltord, remember. So it will probably be Kone and one of Samassa and Niang uptop (preferably Mamad, obviously).

I dont think they are good enough defensively to win it all but I expect them to win this round at least. Niang and Kone should be enough to get it done. Not having Brandao and Wiltord hurts a lot I think. Samassa is a waste of space and should be off the team.

Ha! 7-6 on penalties, as Rajkovic sends one over the bar. I'll take it, I suppose. I was sure we'd lose after Ziani missed.

Just take it and move on. Samassa sucks and Im not expecting much because no Brandao or Wiltord.

We must remember that we played our 1st game without some players like Bonnart,Cana, etc. I think we don't have other option as playing with Koné/Niang upfront. Or at least give a chance to Gnabouyou...Samassa is useful just as an option, not as a starter.

At least we avoided Fiorentina, I guess. If they'd gotten through, I'd have pegged them as favorites to win the whole thing.

I suspect that Samassa started because Gerets expected Twente to let us come at them, so we'd need someone big to have a chance at crosses and such. I wouldn't be surprised if Kone/Valbuena started against Ajax, along with Mamad.

Civelli was really good today, by the way. Not saying I want to see him play a ton, but it was nice to see (also, nice to not see his ass today).

Yea, I meant with everything ending as it did, except for the Fiorentina result.

Valencia, Milan, and Fiorentina all out, as well as Aston Villa, if you want to throw them in. Wow.

Samassa almost gave two assists yesterday  No thanks Cheyrou and Ben Arfa to not have made him shine.

I think if we pass Ajax we appear as a candidate for the title.

It'll depends how much Gerets will care about the tournament.

the think i like about this tournament is how unpredictable it is. remember bayern munich last season, now this season sees 3 heavy weights getting knocked out.

Villa is concentrating on a Champion's League spot. Currently, they are 5 points ahead of Arsenal & their toughest part of their schedule is coming. They are preparing for WAR!!!

They automatically became a candidate for the title when they entered the competion. Diouf seems to care about it and wants to win it thus it would really be beneficial if he and Gerets were on the same page. I did say they cant win it without Brandao and Wiltord but Brandao has done nothing so far so maybe Im wrong but Id rather have Wiltord playing over Samassa easily.
