So here we'll open the thread...

El Nacho hace un papelon and loses 5-0 at home...the coach is fired...
Cuenca just lost 2-0 in Venezuela....

Deportivo Anzoategui??? Cuenquita que mal estas...
    Y del Nacho, sin comentarios....

I had good expectations for El Nacional to pass to the next phase...and Cuenca as well. The opponents for both teams were not amazing by any stretch but it seemed that our teams just looked lost on the field. Cuenca had some good opportunities to possibly create goal scoring chances but lost it due to ball hogging, poor passing in the box, and bad vision. El Nacional I can't say much about because I didn't see the game, only the highlights but I've never seen such a porous defense...how many opportunities did they even have to score?????? They have a good team also, which is what makes this such a bizarre situation and an incredibly shameful one....hopefully Cuenca can rebound at home, 2-0 isn't as terrible as 5-0 and maybe the altitude can play a role in slowing the Venezuelans down. Dep Quito and Liga:D:D have to step up for Ecuador.

:confused:I watched the El Nacional v Nacional game and 0-5 was a crazy score.
1st half El Nacional had many, many chances.
Poor finishing by the front two strikers.
2nd half defending was awful & then EL Nacional just fell apart.
Maybe a chance with just 0-2 or even 0-3 but to keep letting in goals

    Buenas noticias:)

    just finished watching dep. quito...
good result for them, a 1-1 tie is positive and could have been a win...

    quick notes:
    Mandra sucks!
Preciado sucks! he didn't do anything for 90 minutes
that was one of the shabbiest defensive displays I've seen in a long time by an ecua team....

Donoso was great off the bench, the Quito goalies kept the game even.

    Liga 3-2 Palmeiras

Liga starts on the right foot in their title defense season....the defense needs to tighten up a bit and Bieler needs to get settled up front and score a few, he had some chances...

    My thoughts:

Liga 3-2 Palmeira:I think Liga stepped it up from the domestic league to beat Palmeiras. I didn't see the whole game but 2 goals for Calderon isn't bad, any references on this guy? As for the rest of the team, i thought Manso's free kick was awesome. What do you guys think about Larrea? Very entertaining game.

As for Deportivo Cuenca- Boca I only saw the first twenty minutes or so but that was enough to see Boca dominate the midfield. As for an Ecuadorian club though, i think 1-0 wasn't too bad.

    Thoughts, comments, analyses?

I'd say you're spot on with the assessment.
Mamita Calderon's second goal was a bit of luck through a defensive error but a goal nonetheless- and a very valuable one. The defense needs to keep working. Larrea is a very good player, but today got yellow carded 4 minutes after being subbed, he needs to keep his cool.

That's what I love about Liga. They always represent. Even though they are not in top form, and have lost almost all of their star players, they turn it up a notch when they play big games.

It will be interesting to see how Chengue Morales adapts, and how Fossatti uses him with Bieler and Mamita.

By the way after watching Juan Carlos Paredes play in that Boca game he should be getting some attention from Vizuete. That kid looked read solid and could find a place in la tri. What do you guys think? And do you know any more about him like; I've only watched him play a few times.

he's pretty good, i was impressed with his performaces the past few games...he'd surely be a sub on the bench with the competition in the midfield but adapting him as a striker might work as well?

LOL...I just saw this... i posted almost the same thing about him in another thread yesterday... I think that kid has a lot of potential in being our next star. I said the same thing about Antonio Valencia when he played in El Nacional.
