Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) Saw it after half-time. Andrei didn't lose the ball when he had it and I hear he had two dangerous shots on goal in the first 45.
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) Just saw the 2 shots Arshavin had today. First one you could definitely tell he was nervous and hesitant as he took small touches and took too long, and still got a pretty decent shot on goal. The 2nd chance he was unlucky not to to score, great keeping, couldn't shoot much better than that. Nice job to create a little bit of room to get the shot off. Arshavin didn't do too much this game but he also played nearly mistake free. Sucks Arsenal tied...
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) I watched the whole game. The first thing that struck me about the match, Arsenal are a squad in serious trouble. Going through the squad I felt that there was not any player that looked dangerous today, and just about everyone missed a wide open shot. As for Arshavin. He showed his class and ability. He never made a bad pass, unlike most of his teammates, I believe he only lost the ball once, and he delivered several very good crosses. The only complain I have is that, since he looked the most composed and dangerous Arsenal player, why didn't he get the ball more? I think this will come with more time spent with the squad. The most unfortunate thing is that he can't help them in the Champions league.
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) Wow, I guess Arshavin won the BBC MOTM, and this for only 63 min of play I didn't see much from him, he looked pretty stationary but I guess he did some good things the first 30 min of which I didn't see. He was really unlucky not to score with his left, that was almost as good as you could do, surprised the keeper reacted so well since there was a player that ran in front of Shava right before he shot, that could freeze a keeper but he did really good to get to that. Anyway, Молодец Шава!
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) didn't see the game but i bet they only made him MOTM so everyone can hear more of his funny accent. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77qdHjGyYDc"]YouTube - Arsenal vs Sunderland 0-0 -Andre Arshavin (21-02-09)[/ame]
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) I feel the same way as you. As much as I like Arsenal for a lot of positive attributes, and even more that Arshavin is there, they really are going backwards. Hit hard by injuries, sure, but there is no core of players. Maybe Arshavin and Fabregas will be the start of that. But it seems like their is more drama and crying by Arsene than actually getting results. I know Zenit were difficult in the Arshavin transfer drama, but its not like Arsenal have their shit together right now. You have to think if Eduardo was there instead of that quack Bendtner getting hit in the back of his calves by Arshavin's passes and Fabregas and Walcott things would be a little better. They have to, they couldn't get worse. There is no real core to that team, yet, I guess. Add Nasri to the list of guys I like. Yet on any given day they could beat anyone. Just not the day they play Sunderland or Hull. I think Arshavin made some nice crosses and flick ons and his teamates weren't even expecting them. I missed most of the first half, but I think it was a great first showing and much better than he was playing on Zenit in the past fall
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Remind me, are you one of the people that claims Chelsea misused Sheva?
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) so true, and funny, in a tragi-comic kind of way. Personally, I think it is a rather sorry state of affairs when just about everybody in Scandinavia and the Netherlands speaks better English than most people in the USA and the UK. When I was in Palanga a few years back, we shared a sea-side villa with a nice young Danish couple who kept apologizing for their poor English, even though they had everything nailed down tight - the grammar, the slang, the whole 9 yards. Didn't see the match, sounds like AA played pretty well mostly.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Remind me, are one of those people who think that Chelsea is world class caliber? For a portion of that you can go Chelsea forums. 50 years is not that long for a major trophy, start marking your calendar.
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) The setanta announcers picked Whitbread(that might not be his name) from Sunderland, basically because he said he had to pick someone from Sunderland, and Whitbread seemed to "run the most." I think picking Arshavin is a default option. He was the only Arsenal player who didn't play like crap. Bendtner, v. Persie, Vela, Gallas, Toure, Sagna, Clichy all had terrible games where they either blew open opportunities or gave the ball away. As for Arsenal as a team, they are missing their best midfield player and captain, their best wing player and their best forward, among others. However, I have a feeling that if United lost Ronaldo, Rooney and Carrick, they would still find a way to beat Sunderland. Although it took a late Vidic goal to actually do it.
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) forgot to mention this but did anyone see puygrenier? bolton got 2 goals ahead of west ham early, and puy got them back in the game with some sloppy errors and nearly lost them 2 points. i think he was subbed off will check on it later and some clips speaking of arshavin.. ya he doesn't look good in red, the lilywhites of tottenham would be more similar to zenit.. but more than the color, how BIG were his shorts! looked like a kid wearing his dad's clothes. and is it true he flew in a barber from russia to cut his hair. he should have a reality show a la victoria beckham when they came to LA
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) Maybe Pyugrenier could pull a Pavlyuchenko and blame his poor form for Zenit on the food and weather.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread I think we had this conversation before. Unfruitful, as it was.
Re: FSU Players Abroad (Arshavin, Sheva, Pavlyuchenko, etc) Damn it sounds like the loan will not be permanent... but stupider things have been done by front offices before.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Lets face it, Chelsea and Andriy thought it would be a good idea. But they both came out of it with an exotic STD and they're not returning each others calls.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread You haven't answered the question. True, but given Sheva's performances for Milan, one suspects he picked up the STD and then gave it to the club.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Well he, nor they, still haven't found the penicillin.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread You don't call a lucky home win over Cagliari the penicillin?
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread A draw would have been a fair result, but Cagliari didn't create much, so if you don't score.......
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Did you see the match? Did you see who we had up front?
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Yes I watched it. You had Mr. Offsides up front. I thought Cagliari had some nice shots to score.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread They did, but they barely bothered Abbiati. Overall, the game was pretty boring.
Re: NSR: Funny/interesting Russian links thread Thus, with Inzaghi having played full 90 against Bremen 3 days before, having to do the same again was a push already. Without ANY other forward, we had 1% chanc of making this a high scoring game. 1-0 win was perfect, although Cagliari had several good chances.
