I find it funny how many people are mad at Becks over this. Its completely LA's fault. You dont let your superstar player go to a premier club to "train" when you know he has the ability to make it there and for them to want to keep him. As a Milan fan I love this. Beck's jersey will sell like crazy, make loads of money for the club, he actually does help, and Milan needed another person that can take a sweet free kick right?
This certainly fills the void left by the Ronnie O'Brien departure. But they also lost Lima who was underrated for them in the last half of last season. I don't know much about this forward that they recently signed. With their current roster, I think they'll be good. I don't know about great, yet.
Well not as glass as JOB, but still, a similar story. So far I don't think any of the Western teams have really upgraded. Chivas lost Guzan last year and now Mendoza. I haven't heard any real upgrades there. cRapids have only lost ppl (Petke, Gomez?). LA has improved but with Donovan and Becks they are still going to be rebuilding. SJ will be better than last year but they still have alot to prove up top. Ryan Johnson is not the striker of destiny. Dallas might get better with RSL-killer VdB but he was pretty quiet in KC before NY, so maybe he was just a flash in the pan. Houston might struggle without DeRo, Dynamo is always a threat though with Kinnear in charge. Seattle is a big unknown. May suck really bad, might have the coach, money and muscle to make a Fire-like entrance into the league.
Bobby Convey: MLS Bound? News is Convey was released by Reading... Link I wonder how much money he would cost? I'd really like to see him get back on track, wether it be in the MLS or some where else in Europe. Don't we need a Left Footed Mid???
Re: Bobby Convey: MLS Bound? No way he slips past San Jose and LA in the allocation order. I just hope his knees are ready for the crappy MLS refs and artificial turf fields (thank heavens for RTS).
Re: Bobby Convey: MLS Bound? Most rumors say Convey is going to make between $200k to $250k at San Jose.
Re: Bobby Convey: MLS Bound? Sounds like Colorado made a pretty good move in a trade dealing Gomez (along with a back up GK, and some salary cap space) back to DC. The cRapids got Guerrero, a dp spot, and a second round pick. Man, Gomez better have an awesome year this season to be worth all that. I read it on Goff's page, details are on their team blog
Utah natives Kyle Christensen and Justin Braun survive first part of preseason and head to Guadalajara with Chivas USA. Link Kyle Christensen scores in preseason friendly. Link
Re: Bobby Convey: MLS Bound? Well actually, cRapids just got their DP spot back that they gave DC for Gomez in the first place. Guerrero and Pitkens are good picks for Colorado though.
Was anyone else surprised to see that Colorado traded to get their DP slot back? They're not actually going to use it, are they? Maybe they just want to bump up Mehdi's salary to DP level?
I think they just wanted to Dump Gomez, but get some value out of it. Maybe they can turn around and trade the slot again.
Well here is a team that would probably want it in 2010: http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...39/garber-barcamiami-team-would-start-in-2010
So, Escalada is out now??? Anybody know anything else about this? "Real Salt Lake Roster Tidbits Keepin' It Real has learned that Luis Escalada was not offered a contract before coming to camp. Although some discussions had taken place, the team was not willing to put pen to paper without seeing him in action in the teams training camp. It's unknown what the exact status is, but I suspect this will unfold over the next couple of weeks."
Read it more carefully.....all it says is the team didn't make Escalada an offer before seeing him in camp. He's not out - he's still with the team. They just want to see how he looks against MLS players before committing themselves - a wise move, IMO.
From all reports, Escalada is a bit out of condition, so it's probably a good thing that they didn't take a Tejada approach. My understanding is that they're going to give him a month to get some conditioning back and evaluate him again at that point.
I was bored this morning and I wanted to capture my frustration on Beckham-mania that seems to infect every MLS-ish website that I read info on.
