    Sanogo case:
The deal becomes even better for Hoffenheim, because Sanogo
is one of the guys, who have a strong first half year.

The only reason for Allofs to do it is, that he hopes to let Sanogos
market value increase by it. But i totally agree, a sell would have
been better, because Hoffenheim was in an "under pressure situation".

Today the loaning deal got done. On loan till end of the season like half of the team.
In Bremen there we kept the injured and indisciplinized rest of our gang.

And it gets better from day to day. I can only see a positive thing, if Sanogo plays
really strong at Hoffenheim and we get the 7 million € from them or a money club
    like City shows interest.

At least Tziolis showed some good matches
    in the winter preparation.

The only explaination i have is Sanogos situation and maybe the young
Ross is doing well at the trial from one day to another or Allofs was impressed
by the Jugoslavian striker, who scored twice against us in the last friendly.

With six strikers(Pizarro, Rosenberg, Almeida, Harnik, Hunt, Ross + [Husejinovic and Sanogo]) I believe we still have enough quantity and quality.

A new left back would please me, but it´s highly unrealistic considering the fact that we have three possibilities for this position with Boenisch, Tosic and Pasanen.

Or we really are going to sign a striker in the coming days (I don't see inexperienced young players like Ross as an adequate replacement), only that would make any sense. However, due to all the disappointments lately as far as our transfer policy is concerned, I'm rather pessimistic.

I started to lose faith in Allofs a while ago, but should we really not sign anyone, and seriously believe that we'll be able to 'come back' in the Rückrunde with such an inadequate squad, after the totally disappointing Hinrunde that is actually a necessity, I'd start to question his sanity. That would be madness, there is no other word for it.

If it remains like this, our transfer policy is a total joke, and would be more fitting to a relegation candidate than a club that finished second last season, after playing in the CL for 5 consecutive seasons. But even relegation candidates like Gladbach have been more willing to take 'risks'..

I just hope that for once, my pessimism is proven wrong.

    ???

Sanogo is in Hoffenheim, Husejinovic in Kaiserslautern, Harnik is injured (and not a 'real' striker anyway), Hunt is no striker and also injured, Ross is not even signed yet (and nobody actually knows if he'll be able to cope in the league), Pizarro is banned in the first crucial league matches. Enough quantity and quality? You've got to be kidding me.

It's madness to start the Rückrunde with three strikers (Pizarro, Rosenberg and Almeida), knowing about our luck with injuries.

    Jensen - Özil

    Diego

    Pizarro - Rosenberg (almeida)

Honestly, i think this lineup should definitely be good enough to finish under the best three this year.
Only complaining about the transfers of Werder won´t make our team work better in the Rückrunde.
I believe it´s up to Schaaf now, but no one can truely say that it´s manager Allofs fault that we only ended 8th in the Hinrunde.

Of course, I am not content with the transfers of the last couple of seasons as well, but that´s absolutely not the main reason for our failure in the Hinrunde.

We have considerably weakened our squad over the years, instead of strenghtening it, how can that not be Allofs fault? How is it not Allofs fault that he loans out a striker to a direct competitor, despite the fact that our staff repeatedly said that we wouldn't sell anyone (unless we replace them adequately)? What exactly does Werder gain from a loan? Hoffenheim have the best of both worlds - relatively cheap loan, and a buying option should Sanogo do well - where is Werder's benefit in this?

You simply can't talk about competing for the Bundesliga title (that was supposedly our goal, as both Allofs and Schaaf repeatedly said), and then have a transfer policy that is more fitting to a relegation candidate. And that's what Werder has been doing for quite a while now.

The squad is good enough for a top 3 finish? Really? Where is the depth, e.g. in the strikers department and fullback positions? If the squad is so good, why do we have that huge problem with complacency, certain players who guaranteed starters and don't have serious competition to fear, so they continue to be 'out of form' for months? Optimism is fine, totally unrealistic rose-tinted glasses are not.

P.S.: Schaaf made a number of mistakes also (unfortunately, he does not seem to learn from most of them either), there is no doubt about that, but this thread is about transfers, which are clearly Allofs' responsibility.

The transfers of Sanogo, Tosic and C.Alberto after Kloses
departure were like a "grip into the toilet" (? - Griff ins Klo).

Summer 2007 was really not Allofs masterpiece, 3 real transfer flops.
What we see now is crisis management of pasts mistakes.

I am not unhappy with the transfers done last winter, this summer
and now. Özil, Pizarro show good performances. Prödl (as CB) and Boenisch
are good talents, Tziolis showed some potential in the friendlies
(too early to judge) and guys like Husejinovic and Andresen are
    relative cheap perspective signings.

Sure, compared with the objectives formulated by KATS and some players
at the start of the season a real class transfer is missed and the season
went very dissapointing so far. But i prefare to avoid fiascos like the ones
described in summer 2007, especially when see other mistakes from other
management parts (stadium project) invoking into the sport management.

Important is now, that the team (coach, management included) works hard
and make the best of this difficult situation. Such crisis can give
new strength and that´s my hope.

i think sanogo had to leave no matter what, wheather we sell him or not. But we also need another striker for obvious reasons. We will pay for this winter's failure to sign necessary players. RV,LV have no depth , with centre backs playing that position. If we need money, to sell Diego for 30-35mio is a good plan. Ozil can take his place, maybe buy Marin, a strong LV, Pizza, and we definitely need another striker. Almeida's performances are too inconsistant to be in the start 11. If we can somehow buy Keirison too, we will be able to fix most of our problems. We talk about loss of money from C.Alberto, but remember that we sold Klose for more than 10mio. The worst thing KATS can do is be scared to make other moves. There is so much competition for quality players, and Allofs plays the transfermarkt like a team trying to survive relegation, looking for players that no one else wants to spend money on.

There will be no replacement for Sanogo

    http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werderal..._ausgeliehen___aber_Ersatz_gibt_es_nicht.html

Allofs: "Yes, it is a risk to start the Rückrunde with three strikers"

WTF? Why the hell do we have to take this totally unnecessary risk then, Herr Allofs? Because we have been so overwhelmingly brilliant and injury free this season, so we can afford it?

Seriously, words fail me when it comes to our staff these days. Incompetence in every friggin' department.

Which three? I count Almeida, Rosenberg and...um...everybody else seems to be suspended for the first games (Pizzaro), injured (Hunt, Harnik) or brand new & unproven. I hope that Rosenberg & Hugo can get us through Pizzaro's suspension and that eventually Hunt will get healthy.

If the three main guys can stay healthy, then Pizarro + Rosenberg/Almeida (whichever is having his good streak at the moment) is still OK up top, but if any of them go down with an injury...eek...not a nice thought.

Is is just me, or has Allofs lost his mind since that Carlos Alberto transfer??

And why loan a rival for the title a guy who may not have been doing so well for you, but has shown in his career that he can score goals in this league??

If anyone can get Sanogo back on the goal-scoring track, it is Ralf Rangnick.

I still can't figure that one out.......

If Rangnick can get him back on the road they can use the buying option.
In any case we have 1.2 million € loaning fee, which is not bad for a half season.

Footy, Sanogo is a good player, but behaves like a child, when not everything
runs like he wants. That happened at Lautern, Hamburg and at us.
This winter break he talked himself on the transfer list by doing statements,
that should normally be disussed in the team.

As said he has football potential. It wouldn´t suprise me if he does well at
Hoffenheim, because he starts there at 0 and I hope, that he performs and
Hoffenheim uses the buying option, because then one of our problem cases
(my earlier post) is solved and we made a good amount of money
(I don´t diss him here, it´s obvious, that he was not happy and if the full
deal (transfer) can be done, it´s the best for all sides)

I am also pissed, that we sent so many players on loan, because we
currently have a shortage while we will have a too full squad if the players
return. But the buying-conditions made in the loan-contract is as well as
the loaning fee very interesting, in total about 7 million € and
I can understand KA using it, because the direct buying offers
by other clubs were far less.

The problem mentioned already and also in my posts is the shortage,
because of injuries and suspensions. It´s not easy for Schaaf to handle it.
I really hope we can avoid further injuries in the near future.

The statement of Allofs that nobody will be bought in the next days must be
interpretated with caution. It just means, that under normal conditions
nothing gets done. If the club gets an interesting player for good conditions
KA do an Adenauer "who cares what i said yesterday" as he already did at other
problem positions. It seemed at the end of the Hinrunde based on his statements,
that a goal of us is to do soemthing at the full backs, but sadly nothing happened.

I don't dispute what you say about what happened to him at Bremen. Maybe he didn't handle things right there.

But it also has to be said, he's hardly the only problem at your club right now.......

Now. To what you said about Sanogo's past clubs.

I don't recall that happening at Kaiserslautern and I was still following them closely and attending matches up there then. I was still reporting then too and had it not been for injuries, he would have put up more than the ten goals and seven assists he did in 2006. He and Halil Altintop were arguably the top strike force in the Bundesliga that season.

Sanogo wanted to leave Kaiserslautern after that because they'd been relegated.

Sanogo was hardly the first player to push his way out of a side who had been relegated.

He felt he was good enough to play top-flight football elsewhere and he was.

He isn't great, but he's good enough to play in this league.

At HSV, he produced for Doll, but not for Stevens. OK, he didn't produce much, but at that time, no HSV striker did. Especially after Stevens took over.

What striker did produce at HSV for Stevens?? I think that answer is one. Olic. You could argue Guerrero and I would respect that. I wouldn't totally agree, but I would respect that opinion.

    Why was this?

I think because Stevens' entire offensive philosophy at HSV seemed to be "give van der Vaart the ball and have everyone else get out of his way." ;)

I still believe Sanogo's problems at HSV came for the very same reason Huub Stevens is out of another job. He alienates certain players. At HSV, it was Sanogo and Zidan.

Here is the story on Stevens leaving PSV because he couldn't get along with his players.

HSV fans tried to warn us about what a lazy shit Mohamed Zidan is.

We're quite happy with him in Dortmund. Not a great player, but gives 100% effort every time out and even scores more goals than that true piece of shit we got from you guys, Nelson Valdez.

It's easy to point the finger at the player each time and as I said, I don't know what happened at Werder and I won't dispute your version of it because I don't know what is going on there myself.

But looking at the tone of the latest e-mails to this thread, I'd say things at your club overall aren't "peachy."

Is this the club's fault? No.

But they might not be as blameless as you think.......

This is the same way I feel about BVB and Giovanni Federico.

Again, do you ever think there might be a bigger problem at your club??

Does Rostock have a buy option for Schindler??

This is what Zorc had me pissed off about two seasons ago. He loans away both Sahin and Pienaar and buys Petric to be our creative midfielder.

We were decimated in midfield for most of the freakin' season....

Sometimes, I don't know what these guys think. Sometimes I think they are "too optimistic" to be effective in their jobs.

Best of luck anyhow. Of course, that's except for tonight and the weekend of March 21st!!! ;)

    I rate him the same.

To be honest. I couldn´t understand how someone pays so much for Valdez.
I couln´t understand KA paying 4.5 million € for Sanogo, too (plus abut 300k € bonus for every champions league while Sanogo plays at us).

I think at Sanogo the story is kind of different.

At first he saw Werder as a chance (after the last months at HSV) and it really
worked well. The breaking point IMO was the Africa cup last season. He came
back with a very bad form, but based on the good performances he showed,
he felt to have the right to play, but when getting a chance from Schaaf
he dissapointed. (Now personal opinion/interpretation: He took things
personal and built up a kind of mental complex.)
And that´s why we didn´t see one convincing performance from him
    after the Africa cup.

Yes, but there is not only one problem.

But Sanogos development is one problem, indeed not the biggest one,
there are things like C.Alberto, who seems to need the Copacabana to
perform, and some people in management like the ... repsonsible for
the laughable stadium extension, oh excuse me, stadium renovation
for more than 40 million €, many occuring injuries and other stuff.

No, it´s planned to give Kevin Schindler match pratice.
He does IMO a good job there. At Rostock there are other reasons why
the team struggles. I see a positive development at him.

If it works out well, they are heroes. But I also rate some moves as a bit too
risky. But footy, you know: no risk, no fun. ;)

(it´s all in a football business usual level, not compareable with insame things done
    by some other clubs)

well, we're so worried about Allofs... but so far, yesterday, we are 100% :D Me and others are not so optimistic after a bad winter transfer period so anything positive is a bonus.

Same here. I did want Valdez, but I wouldn't have paid more than 3M for him. I would have had a problem paying 3M.

And as I've told anyone who will listen, I wanted BVB to go for Sanogo then, not Valdez. Even with the bad times Sanogo has had since then, he's scored much more than sorry ass Valdez.

Especially when HSV only paid 3.8M for him themselves. I'll tell you why I think they pay so much for Sanogo.

    There are two reasons:

    1) The guy has the tools and the potential to be a big scorer in this league. He just may not have the right attitude. Most guys think their coaches can instill that in him.

    2) Everyone thinks they can get him back to his Kaiserslautern form. Perhaps, before buying him, they should call Michael Henke at Bayern and find out what it takes to get Sanogo to play that well. My guess is another striker at his side who is better than he is.....

That could be true. I believe Mohamed Zidan has that same attitude. But players like those two will continue to get chances because of their massive potential.

    That was my point.

Things that sometime take the focus away from football. And I say that despite the superb second half performance your guys gave last night.

That is the reason I asked. I figured if they had an option, Rostock would sell the stadium to buy him. LOL!!

I think Eilts will eventually get them turned around. He just needs time.

    Agree with both comments!

Some financial detailts about the Sanogo.

Werder gets 900k € for the loan and saves about
the same for the salary. I didn´t know, that he
was so expensive, this doesn´t help me
    understanding his behavior.
