Here's a trialist from DCU per Steven Goff of the Washington Post. *Defender Pat Carroll, the youngest member of the soccer-playing siblings from Springfield, Va., has lined up workouts with the USL1's Charleston Battery, according to his agent. He was not invited back to D.C. United because of the MLS roster reductions. Eldest brother Brian is secure in Columbus's starting lineup and middle bro Jeff, who missed most of last DCU season because of injury, is searching for a USL club.
must be part of the invite only trials feb 13-14. Im going to try to get down there for an afternoon. Mikey
If anyone else is going to be around for the Feb. trials and has a Battery jersey they want to trade, let me know... I'll switch ya for a Galleons kit, they are pretty nice jersey's.
I heard today, that 4 guys were invited back from this month's trial for the Feb. trials. The only guy, that I was told about, is the 18 year old Honduran midfielder.
German Mendoza if everything was correct on the roster from that trials I got. He was good. I put a couple stars next to him (usually I put one for soemthing that makes a person standout, good moves, good pass, goal) I dont remember what he did but he had more stars than most (he was #9 on the white team if you remember him Aguilucho
not really. the best i remember from the trials, and again that is just me. dude with the pony tail, idk how old he is but he was good, I was told he is from Paraguay or Ecuador. the big cuban, a little chubby but he is good. one dude that played vrs me and scored an awesome goal upper corner. he passed me twice in the right wing, and remember i was an all state right back in El Salvador... kid has some skill, yes it was a white dude. other than those 3 i dont remember anybody else being awesome or showing something i have not seen before. again everybody has their own opinions, if the kid is 18 well that is a great sign if he can handle the game at that level. i dont usually buy that if the kid is young he can develop, to me there is not young and old players, there is good and bad. Again there are some youngsters with some skills and they may be a great option to spend money on them, but again is like the lottery, not all of them are messis you know. Good luck to the players that are going back. The others I remember were the 2 Guatemalans, the 2 other cubans, and some other mexican kids on my team, none of them any good. There was a short white kid on my team that came from Virginia who wasnt bad, there was another ponny tail dude that looked like David Beckam he wasnt bad either. If you can get the pictures of the players that are going back I can probably give you my opinion on them. Nah I wouldnt say anything bad about them or the coaches, I know my limits and I like to think I follow the ethic soccer players rules. My honest opinion thought those are the only 3 players I truly saw shinning, the ones I mentioned above.
The kid from Ecquador is coming back, plus some Cubans, who were not here for the last one. A couple of them are established national team players.
What are the times for this Friday and Saturday ? Is it a once a day affair or do they do a two a day type scenerio ? It's going to be sweet to go back inside the 'Baud.
Does anyone have any info on the structure of the player trials this weekend? Will it just be games all day or other training? Number of players attending, times, etc?
It will probably be similar to the one held in Jan. but with a smaller amount of players. There were 6 full teams of 11 or 12 their (about 70 players) typically its starts off with some paperwork, maybe a short interview with one of the coaches. then some sort of fitness test, BMI and weight messurments. A lite lunch at the stadium, followed up with a couple full field matches. They have often included a current player or two on each team as a standard. Dinner at the stadium and then the second day is usually a full match or two and then an feedback session on how they preformed. good luck
the last trial was open to all at and was about 70 players I imagine there will be quite a few less at this one. I imagine there will be about 30 players or so
Here is a partial list of countries being represented at this weekend's trials: Canada-at least 1 Cuba-3 1 from Olympic team and 2 from National team DC defection http://uk.reuters.com/article/worldFootballNews/idUKN1141997220081011 New Zealand-1 Japan-2 both play in J-League Haiti-2 both have over 50 caps Latvia-1 Spain-1 Argentina-2 1 was here on trial last year, but had visa issues Brazil-2 Jamaica-2 England-2 Ecquador-1 plus a lot of US based players and local product Ian O'Shea from James Island.

As always your Capt. clutch... thanks now I can plan my time accordingly. Is the Three Lions open to us or just the players ?
I didn't want to be that guy and hype my player up on here for the past few months/weeks but those who are interested, the player on trial from the Galleons is Luke Burton. He's about as nice and humble as one could be... he's a pretty nifty defender, plus there is no one on planet earth that's fitter then him. A little info on Luke Burton can be found at feslsoccer.com or galleonssoccer.com.
I think, it's just open to the players. It's hasn't been open on Thursday nights, because we have been playing on the College of Charleston pitch.
Glad you mentioned you're playing your matches at the C of C, I was almost going to head out tonight and try make the matches tonight. I figured I could see you guys play and have a good go at OxUtd and grab a few pints of Boddington's.
U in chucktown now? Im going to try to hit up the trials for a little bit tomorrow but should definately be their for the Sat session. Mikey
Still in Florida, going to head up on Friday morning. Was going to leave around 2am or so but after a visit to Hertz they told me my license has been suspended for over a year... now I got to hit up the DMV early in the am and then head up. I was going to skip the Sat session but now it looks like that's my only option. If u see Burton on the field, tell'em Andre says hi.
