Galaxy will have "Donovan" this year: LAG has signed Jamaican NT keeper Donovan Ricketts. Goal.com Fox Sports I had not seen this on anyone's radar. It seems that many of the deals that come to fruition in MLS don't make the rumors sites (and most of the rumored deals never happen). I'm not sure why this is the case, as alot of rumors in other sports turn out to be reality. I look for alot of incoming players to be announced next month. It should be interesting.
I recommend watching this thread over at MLS News & Analysis: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=827579
A swap of RSL killers? 3rd Degree is reporting that the Red Bulls have traded Dave van den Bergh to Dallas for Dominic Oduro.
It is exactly that! I am not sure what/how I think about this trade - better for FCD I think, though the cap space is a big deal for NYRB.
SBI confirming the VDB deal and is also reporting Mike Magee is on his way to the LAG. No reports of what NYRB get in return.
This is probably OT, but what is the difference between a regular moderator and a super moderator? Do you get to kill posts and close threads faster? Can you use your super powers to reach right over the Internet and stop people from asking if the RioT will have natural turf and why we don't change the team name, cuz', you know, like Real Salt Lake isn't an American-sounding name?
This is an interesting move: Rapids Obtain Harden Rights Acquiring the rights to a retired player? Is Clavijo still making the trades in Colorado?
I am very happy with most of the moves that Chivas has made thus far. No GK in the draft. They are about to lose Kljestan. And the only signing thus far of any note is Canuck defender Jazic (and thats nothing special). Keep it up Goats!
In light of the imminent departure of Dax McCarty to San Jose, FC Dallas has announced a major signing... Wait for it... Wait for it... DANNY TORRES!!! It looks like Ellinger is trying to help them assemble RSL/2006 in Dallas.
Let's see, Dallas has Watson, Cunningham and Torres. Who else do they have? Also, I saw that Nik Besagno is on the preseason roster for the MLS Sounders.
That's a very interesting situation because of the single entity situation. Of course, if another team is willing to give him what he wants the league would most likely oblige (unless it sets a bad precedent).
Seattle signs (almost) Freddy Montero from Deportivo Cali. People seem pretty excited about this move. Have other players (besides Olave) moved to MLS from Deportivo Cali?
Donovan's replacement in LA? Michael Owen. OK so it's probably a pipedream, but apparantly Anschutz and Co. are interested in making it happen according to this report.
Interesting. Hard to imagine Owen wanting to relocate to La-La Land as much as Beckham...he's never been quite the media whore that Golden Balls is, and he seemed much more unhappy outside of England (while at RM) than Beckham did. That being said, they'd be a fun duo to watch. Sure would be nice to be a major market team, where a player like that is even feasible. Kreis' "The team is the star" mantra is more a function of the fact that we'll never be able to LAND a star, as opposed to not wanting to have any stars.
