We match up better against Argentina than Mexico, because our players are more physical (bigger, faster). We're not going to try to outpossess or outskill Argentina, like I'm sure Mexico did (I did not watch the game). Instead, we will shut guys like Messi and Aguero down physically by tight marking and not giving them space. Those guys will never beat us in the air, so they will be trying to penetrate up the middle so our defense has to be compact and make few mistakes. We will have to foul them sometimes, and I'm sure we'll get a couple of yellow cards but that's the game. However, the fouls should be outside of 25-yards if possible to avoid the quality of Riquelme's free kicks.

    Unidos contra Argentina

    Junio 07, 2008

    QUITO

    Boogie Down BRONX!
La 10 de la Tri belongs to Kaviedes,,pero el man keeps messing up.When he wants to play he always comes thru,,but he needs to get his sh!t together.
And para Issac Mina,,,I rather have Ambrossi.
Esta seleccion most def does not reflect our country.

Ecuador attacks well down the flanks, but in the eight games of the current World Cup qualification campaign, it has yet to score a single goal from a header. For all Caicedo's promise and Tenorio's strength, they lack Delgado's ability to attack crosses and conjure a goal from nothing.

That's an excellent point. Both Benitez and Tenorio have phenomenal heading ability, but neither has shown that so far in this qualifying campaign. To me, Tenorio is done. He shined in Germany and has failed to deliver ever since. Benitez just now broke his curse by finally scoring, and all we need is a nice little header from him and he'd be back 100%.

it shows that the results we've produced lately are making ripples....i for one am glad that we're moving up, if we can beat Chile, Venezuela and have a good showing against Mexico, we'll move up even more.
