    I was talking about LeBron.

If LeBron ever wants to be considered the GOAT, he has to stay in Cleveland and get 5-6 rings. If Kobe ever wants to be considered the GOAT, he has to win 3-4 more rings by himself (sans-Shaq/LeBron).

Neither of them will every be the GOAT anyway so it doesn't really matter what they do :p

Exactly. All Kobe can hope for is beating Shaq and Magic. He won't get seven. LeBron can though but he has to do the right thing in 2010. If he signs with the Lakers he can get 7 or 8 I think.

If LeBron really wants to be GOAT he has to change his name to Earl and start doin some serious crack...

No way in hell will LeBron get that many with the Lakers especially since Kobe won't be around 7-8 more years (or at least he won't be good enough to help LeBron get that many rings).

All of this assumes LeBron will go to LA in 2010. If he cares about his legacy ('surpassing' MJ) he won't go.

He'd get 3-4 with Kobe. If Bynum turns out the way I hope they'd rule the West for a decade because they would surround those two with serious talent. That's easier to do if you're the Lakers and you have James then it is for the Cavs.

This whole thing about being on one team is irrelevant. Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, all those guys played on multiple teams. James with 7 rings with Lakers would be better then anything he will achieve with the Cavs. That's virtually a lock.

It isn't if LeBron wants to be 'as good' as MJ when all is said and done.

I don't see how that is relevant. You don't think Nash is as good because he played for more then one team? That doesn't compute. A good player is a good player no matter what. In football we always talk about what a great achievement it is to win European Cups with multiple teams. If Jordan had won six rings with six different teams that'd be alot more impressive then what he actually did. Or if he had gone to another team and had the last three-peat there.

No it wouldn't have been because he built a dynasty with the Bulls. They were consistently dominant.

Jordan didn't need to go to a 'better' team in order to get rings (what LeBron would be doing if he went to LA). He helped forge a great team around himself.

Jerry forged a great team around Jordan. Bulls were a Championship calibre team without Mike. If he had gone to a different team and won with that it'd be more impressive then going back and winning with that team.

Besides, what if James never wins a ring with Cleveland? That's not exactly a impossibility considering it's a tiny market team, much like Minne with KG. It'd be better for him to leave while he's young. It's not likely Jordan would have any rings either if he had been drafter by Cleveland and stayed there his whole career.

The Bulls never did anything before Jordan, they didn't do anything without Jordan, and they haven't done anything since Jordan.

They were a bad call from making the Finals without him. And actually had a better record without Jordan then they did with him during those years. It's not like they weren't close. Anyway, they never did anything before Pippen, or after Pippen, either. He was as important to that team as Jordan in my opinion. I don't think people realize how good that squad was.

We'll just agree to disagree then :)

Anyway, I'm sick of all this LeBron to LA talk and how many rings he would get :p

Bulls won two less games the season after Jordan retired. Doesn't sound very MVPish to me. If it had been Pippen who retired instead we both know they'd have won less then that. Imagina Lakers or Cavs without their best player. They'd be lottery teams. Kobe and James are more important to their teams then Jordan ever was.

And yes, LeBron to LAL is kind of a pipedream. Not gonna happen. Let him stay in Cleveland and never win anything :D

Jordan never won a ring without Pippen and Kobe hasn't won a ring (yet ) without Shaq...we'll just leave it at that :D

Shaq was bigger to Kobe than Pippen was to Jordan though...

No doubt. But Kobe was 12 years old back then ;) Shaq would have been the focal point on any team in history anyway. Jordan, Magic, Bird, doesn't matter. It'd be the Diesels team.

Of course. Like I said, if Wilt couldn't win alone no one can.

Gonna be fun to see what the Magic can do tonight. This should be the test for them to see if they're legit. A win at Staples puts them right up there with Boston, Cavs and Lakers as favorites.

First time in franchise history that the Magic have swept the season series against the Lakers.

I love how most of you were saying the Magic aren't capable of winning it all this year and now your tails are between your legs. :D

Finally something good comes out of my hometown.

    I'm no Magic fan though.:D

If I was I would be stoked. I grew up watching them but my heart was always with the Kings even though we are bad now.

They (Orlando) do live and die by the 3-ball. They have about 8 players who can shoot the 3-ball comfortably. That is quite remarkable.

They could match up against the best teams and have decent depth.
