Each team gets the ball from the 25. The winner of the coin toss always goes on defense so they know what they need to do on offense. If the teams match each other then they switch: Oklahoma wins coin toss toss, defense first. Florida scores touchdown. Oklahoma scores touchdown. The game would proceed to double OT and Oklahoma would be on offense first. If it's still tied into 3rd OT then you have to go for two. Many think they should move the starting position back. I would agree, and definitely if instituted in the NFL. One of my biggest gripes with the NFL is that old ass men are the officials in such a fast and physical game. Ah, but I never said it was grounding as the rules let him get away with that. I simply feel he was in the grasp and if you can't even get a full throwing motion then it should be a sack. It's a terrible rule but it gave the Cards a safety earlier and Matt Ryan actually completed a pass with a defender draped all over him. BTW, that defensive holding call was a cop-out in such a situation. I would agree the Colts didn't do enough to win but if they won the coin toss they'd probably be on their way to Pittsburgh or Nashville. That's what really grinds my gears.
Because the NCAA thought of it firstIt shows the progression in thinking, as the NFL system is from who knows when, at least the 1950s if not earlier and the college system was devised in the 1990s (and people didn't want OT in college like some trons don't want a play-off). Play-offs? You're talkin bout the play-offs? Play-offs? Ya kiddin me???
I'd like to see a combination of the two. Do the multiple possession thing like college but still do normal kick-offs like they already do in the NFL
That would be interesting if they took out punts. Either you score or you don't then you kick-off. There are so many better systems than flipping a coin.
Bad day for The_ChelseaSupporter. Now his Giants are being battered by the Eagles in their own stadium after a really poor display from Eli & Co. It's not over yet but they've struggled to score all day and it will take a miracle.
Probably one of the most depressing sports days for me ever. No words to describe how frustrating this has all been. And school starts up again for me tomorrow. At least Heroes comes back after the Super Bowl and things are looking up for my Yankees. Oh yeah AND the Sounders are coming to MLS very soon, so it's not all bad, but still.
You should concentrate more on Chelsea, they now need your help a lot more than any of the Philadelphia's teams.
Sad day for snooker with the passing of David Vine. For anyone else who watched snooker in the 80's and 90's (and though it may not seem so likely, this was a ratings juggernaut at that time) David Vine was the face of snooker. He retired in 2000 but will be remembered by all fans of the green baize. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/front_page/7824275.stm NB I'm still annoyed that Jimmy never won it, bloody Stephen Hendry
I just find it hilarious to see people freaking out over one pseudo bad season. A few losses does not mean a season.
