Any chance anyone can post links to renderings of all the proposed stadiums in current MLS markets as well as potential markets? It would be nice to have them all in one place. I've been trying to find. I've seen several in the past but seem to have a hard time finding many now.
This is a great web site that a New York Red Bull fan has put together. It documents the construction of Red Bull Arena with lots of photos. It's probably the best web site i've seen documenting the construction of a MLS stadium. http://soccerstopblog.blogspot.com/
Vancouver's bid includes the following renovation to their NASL stadium. These renovations will be done regardless if Vancouver gets an Expansion, and will be paid for by the provincial government.
And here is the stadium that the Vancouver Whitecaps have been trying to build with their own money for five years. Originally it was going to be on pillars over top the rail yards, which are owned by the Whitecaps owner. NIMBY's killed that plan do to potential chemical spills and fears that the homeless living close to the stadium might be displaced. The Whitecaps are now trying to swap land with the Port so they can build this current design.
Good job guys, keep em coming. I can't understand how people can say that soccer will fail (again) in this country when there are stadiums like these emerging all across the nation (and Canada).
This is a picture of PGE park during the women's world cup. The final transformation would (I assume) look something like this.
It's better than paying rent inside of a huge NFL stadium. Besides, I believe that is a picture of the stadium before it was renovated. I don't think Claure and Barcelona want to commit to a stadium right now without their team. But I can't believe that FIU would be anything but a temporary home for a Miami MLS franchise. But here's a few pictures of the new renovated FIU stadium: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiu/3027500987/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30729508@N06/2877031391/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30729508@N06/2877042991/
Even renovated it still looks like USL1 -- ie. not in the same league as the other stadiums here, real (Red Bull Arena) or projected. Not that the current Houston home is more than servicable, and San Jose has yet to find a permanent roost -- or have I missed something in the Bay Area?
Most people don't realize that nearly 1/8th of Ottawa's population is in fact ghostly apparitions. This subset is quite loyal to soccer though.
True, in fact there is still a chance Miami FC plays at FIU next season, so it really could be a USL1 stadium. However if awarded a team, the ownership/FIU will be making additions to the stadium to make it more on par with other MLS facilities(more luxury suites, concessions, new press box, etc.). FIU will be a very respectable MLS venue should Miami get a team, although certainly spectacular as some of the newer SSS. The FieldTurf is something we'll have to live with though(at least it's not blue like they have at Boise State lol). To be honest though, some of the SSS around MLS are basically FIU Stadium with a pretty facade and some shades over the sideline seats. Red Bull Arena and the St. Louis plans are just stellar though. I would hope that down the line Claure/FCB would build something like those two.
Anyone can draw pretty little pictures, but there's only one stadium that's ready to go.... and since you like pictures so much, here's the next phase of the stadium at 35K
