Its official. All Portuguese soccer websites are reporting it. Good move by Benfica. Now we need Suazo

Hey, Question Joelzinho. What does the song Arab Money have anything to do with Benfica? haha lol Good song, I actually saw Busta Rhymes in concert 3 weeks ago and he performed this song. Just wondering...

Not sure. I've seen Fernandinho play a handful of times. He does look good, but he plays in a similar position to Aimar. Apparently he won best player in the Ukraine League last season as well. Sadly, I think if Fernandinho is purchased, Martins will see what little time he got, reduced further.

Overall though, I believe it would be an adequate buy. I was to see a price figure though.

Thats true. I havent heard of any asking prices yet. I saw the Barca vs Shaktar game not to long ago and he was a major asset to Shakter beating Barca 3-1. I would definately like to see him on the team, but if Shaktar are asking for an unbelievable amount for him, forget it.

Ironically, didn't Benfica reach a deal with Arab investors or something over the summer?

He deserves to go IMO. This never was where he wanted to spend his entire career, but he has been valuable and faithful, and I cant recall him ever being ungrateful or harsh toward Benfica, unlike that ******** rodriguez. We have kept him here, and he has been loyal, but I think if he feels like he wants to go, we should give him thanks for his time and let him go.

Do you know his contract situation with SLB? Over the summer I think it was reported that he wanted to leave. He's been professional as expected so I'm not sure of his desires at the moment.

On another note I find it funny to see "news" on some sites reporting that Suazo will remain with Benfica for the remainder of the season. We all knew he would since he just arrived on loan. In June, who knows, but Benfica is clearly depending on his contribution to win the league.

Well, he wants to leave so if we could make good money off him I would let him go. Besides, he's been handling this situation pretty well, being very professional and showing a lot of respect towards Benfica and the fans.

Benfica have signed Balboa to a 4 year contract for 4 Million.

21 Million for Di Maria. I say we let him go. Personally, I like Di Maria, and I do think he will be good. But Balbao will be fine on the opposite wing. He is more physical the Di Maria, faster, and is a better crosser of the ball in my opinion.

With 21 million we can probably secure Suazo, find security at the RB and a backup LB either in the country or outside...

Besides, I am sure Rui Costa will be in charge of whether they accept it or not...

In terms of Katso, I would be disappointed if he were to leave. It would definitely hurt Benfica, as Binya isn't a very good "starter" for DM. We would probably need to get a replacement immediately, because I am not sure if we would be able to hold the Liga with Binya back there, never mind Europe next year.

On Luisao....I don't think we can let him go. I do not want to see him go. The Luisao - Sidnei combo has yet to even take hold. They are apparently offering 12 million.

I agree. Katsouranis is a class act. Personally I think he deserves to be the full time captain.

Nuno Gomes close to extending his contract for two more years

"O cenário de entendimento entre Benfica e Nuno Gomes para a renovação do contrato do avançado está cada vez mais perto de ser alcançado. Na mesa das conversações entre Rui Costa e o capitão de equipa está uma prorrogação do vínculo por duas temporadas e nenhuma das partes imagina um desfecho que não seja favorável."

If we sell Katso why not bring up Fellipe Bastos?

Felipe Bastos isnt a DM. He's more of an attacker.

They offcially renewed his contract for 2 years. IMO, this is a good move. Nuno Gomes is still useful. He is a great passer and has many assists. Goal everyone and awhile. Good sub.

I agree. We can not lose Luisao. Benfica's defense isnt the game without him. Yes we have good, young CBs, but without him leading them, there not as good. Thye seem much more confident when they play along side him. The game we lost 5-1 to Olympiacos, Luisao was absent. Major reason Benfica fell apart. I dont want to get rid of Luisao, especially for 12m.

As for Katso, he is way to important to the team as well. Binya is nowhere close to his level and never will be. Unless we get a really good DM, dont get rid of him.

Come on guys, were trying to win the league this year. Imagine trying to do it without Luisao and Katso. Yikes!

Di Maria situation? Sell him. With 21m, we can offer to get a more experienced, already developed player and then some...

Good news guys. Despite Manchestor City's and Marseille's interest in Luisao, Quique said that Luisao isn't going anywhere...in January. So he's guaranteed for the rest of the season.

And Roberto Enke has stated he wants to end his career at Benfica. This is great news. If Benfica sign him, our goalie problems are over. Lets face it, in the games Moreira played, he was barely tested so we cant say hes proven himself this year. IMO, its an honor for Enke, a world class goalkeeper, to want to retire at Benfica. Let him take over the goal for a year and then put Moreira at goal.

I agree. If Benfica want to achieve anything this season, then Katsouranis and Luisao cannot be sold.

Benfica need to learn from the past. After the sold Simao, they well apart. So if they don't want that to happen again, dont sell them. We are in 1st place, and we want to keep it that way. Keep Luisao and Katso. And if Benfica win the league, that means we'll be in the CL so we need to keep them even after the season is over. We cant just keep them and sell them at the end of the season if we want to be successful and make an impact in the CL.

Di Maria can obvisously go. He hasn't been a major asset to the team yet, even though if we were to keep him, he would be extremely helpful. Benfica were able to get in 1st without him and Benfica definately need the money to fix problem areas.
