So, are we talking transfer market for the second half abschieben? I wonder if the team can afford a LB or CB...a lefty with a cross or a crazy shot, of course. I like Rakitic, Pander (when he's healthy) and Lahm in the BuLi. Frings is a bit long in the tooth - if anyone cares to dream, who would you like to see as his replacement? Is it time to sell Diego and spend it too?

I don't think we could pry Lahm out of Bayern, I not only like Rakitic for Werder, but selfishly for the American NT.:D

    All quality, but unrealistic (sadly)

Yeah, to build up a 2nd BL team?! :(

Why do we need a CB? We already have 5, we need a LB and a central midfielder (follower of Baumann/Frings).

Stephen Appiah (DM) still doesn't have a club... unrealistic but one can wish

It´s because of his injury proness. If he is fit, he has CL level,
but because of his injuries a transfer is very risky.

There are some rumours about many players this winter:

-Thiago Silva (CB/Fluminese) almost no chance... some big clubs interested
    -Valentin Stocker (OM/Basel)
    -Junior Cesar (LV/Fluminese)
-De Ceglie (LV/Juventus) - Would be great imo.. U21 player for Italy

    - Other names like Salatic, Abdi, Hugo, Obradovic are also around...

He had the one long term injury that was misdiagnosed by Fenerbahce's medical staff. Its since been corrected and he's been training with Brescia and has started playing for his NT again. Injury proness is a bit harsh, though there is indeed still a cloud over him because of the nature of his long layoff. Great player and one of my favorites, would love to see him in the Bundesliga or BPL.

If you guys don't buy anyone for Christmas, I really don't see this team making top 3 and qualifying for Europe this year.

I don´t see us making the top 3 even if we buy some players.
The attack machine is stocking, that´s a mentality problem.

    Difficult situation.

i think a new coach could be the only hope... i say again, it seems the players don't follow schaaf seriously anymore. I know KA and TS are good friends, but sometimes business must come first. I only see Leverkusen and Bayern that could be top 2... but the 3. rank is not so clear. Schalke and HIV are not so strong that people thought, so maybe Hertha. Hoffe, WoB and Dortmund will be fighting for UEFA Cup positions. We can still make top 3 with our players (maybe one or two new ones)... the league seems very strange this year.

Stuttgart did good to change Armin Veh (they only have 2 points less than us) before a complete collapse. I think we should have brought Eilts in, before Hansa got him. Now we just have to look for a complete new team next year (including Diego :-/).

It will be important how the team does tomorow in Cyprus.

If we don´t win, some players must be kicked out in winter.
Well, there is a need, it should be also done if we win,
but if we loose or draw Werder should kick some more.

To be honest, Schaaf and Allofs are one of the few i can currently identify with. Changing the coach is the worst thing that could be done
IMHO. But renting a coach like Magath or Lattek for a week would be great, so the millionairs would see by suffering, what wunderfull life
    they have at Werder.

I like Eilts, but i don´t think that i would have been the right job for him.
From the current unemployed Bundesliga coaches i only like Slomka,
but he is no improvement to Schaaf IMHO.

Yeah, totally fits into our new system:

    ----------------Wiese--------------
    Husejinovic----Jensen------Hunt----
    -----------Özil------Diego----------
    ----Rosenberg------------Marin----
    ----Pizarro---Sanogo---Almeida----

    ;)

    Hahahaaa :D

In all honesty though... Marin would fit in at Bremen but you already have a very similar player in Oezil. I don't see it happening.

well Marin would take Hunt's place... maybe we can even exchange them. I think Özil should replace Diego at the end of the season if he is ready.

    so probably

    ----------Frings-----------
    -Alberto----------Marin----
    ----------Özil------------

Also it seems like Junior Cesar (LV) will come this winter on free transfer so we can sell Tosic so fast as possible.
We should also start letting Husejinovic play or loan him out

It is a wish list :). I wish Chelsea would gift wrap Mike B. under the tree and Pizzaro gets to open the box.

Yes, you are right. The CM is key and I don't know whom. Any ideas?

I hope KATS take a look to the French league,
    there play some interesting midfielder,
fast, good technic, tactical educated ...
and they should be makeable with Werders budget.

Defour from Liege (Belgium) is also promising,
but rumors connect him with half of the English PL.

Klaus Allofs goes to work right away!

    http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussb...2008/12/17/brasilienstar-dante/zu-werder.html

Bild and a few Belgian news sources say that Werder has made an offer to buy Standard Lüttich Left back Dante. He is the best fullback in Belgium, and he seems to be a strong reinforcement for the position. Bild says it should cost us 4millions but it could be 2-4mio (3,5 says the news from Belgium) because it's not clear if the Club can use the option to extend the contract past 2009.
