Hopefully you will have strong showing like you did in the last uncaf tournament in el salvador......Hey are their any Nicarguan soccer players playing abroad (Including second and third division of other countries league)
don't worry about i found any article on players who played abroad very impressive list though http://impreso.elnuevodiario.com.ni/2007/03/05/suplemento/eldeportivo/5082
There are no good players on the national team. I was a member of the national team scheme for years an left out of frustration. I played at UMass and then left on one of those "trial/play at every club that will have you" excursions, The training pitch is a cut out piece of jungle and the player quarters are worse than a middle eastern hostel. I've been to both and would prefer the Algerian hostel. Its lower than an amateur side. The top-flight Nicaraguan players that play outside of central America want no part of the national team because the team is run by a bunch of crooks. I have about 15 players who are eligible for Nicaraguan citizenship, via birth, descent, or marriage, but none want to play for the team until the current president of the FA resigns or is deposed. Just a little idea of whats going on down there, the president of the federation "Julio Rocha" owns a travel booking agency and has the FA use his agency for all the team's travel. They sent a 28 man delegation to Costa Rica one time via GROUND in a 19 person coach. The charge per player was $750USD. On this trip I had to buy the players food and gatorade from my own funds because they expected them to travel for 10 hours without any sustenance. We arrived at 1:30pm and were to play at 2:30pm. We lost 6-0 and had zero shots on goal. The latest fiasco was in 2007 when they sent us to train at some god forsaken beach 1 hour from the nearest pitch. During the 2 weeks of training we were able to use the pitch ONE time for 45 minutes because there was a livestock auction taking place or a U16 game going on. The last straw was when the coach at the time Carlos De Toro tried to get a bribe out of me. He explained that I should understand football is a business and that he isn't getting paid enough by the FA. Needless to say I left. I'd be happy to share the full details with anyone who would like to know. Here are a few pictures... Our first class accommodations... There were 28 of us in this for 10 hours...
This right here is Nicaraguan football in a nutshell. The Nicaraguan league (that I was a part of unfortunately years ago) is run horrendously, just like this. I wouldn´t mind it if the curruption brought results the way it does in places like Italy, but all it´s done is drop the country in a hole it can´t seem to get itself out of.
The results in last UNCAF 2007 were better than expected. Losing only 1-2 against El Salvador , 0-1 against Guatemala and beating Belize 4-2. Nicaragua got a good chance to finish third in their group to get a qualifier against third in other group for Gold Cup. No news about preparations for UNCAF 2009 ?
They have been training a couple of times per week in managua. There are only 15 players there, 5 of which are from the U20's. Neither keeper has shown up. The have not played any matches outside of one closed door match against the Panama U20 squad. The results for UNCAF 2007 were attributed not to the Nicas good play but to the fact that every team except belize played their bench players. No need to risk their stars getting injured.
FIfa should get involved this immediately, Im sure theres more money to around for better conditions. I smell curuption !
