I'm guessing that they will announce it for Columbus in the next week or 10 days. The pre-sales to Crew season ticket holders, those on the US list and such will begin almost immediately after it is announced for Columbus. The few tickets remaining will probably go on sale to the public around Christmas. Just a guess though.
Who said the game is going to be in Columbus? Their stadium is way to small for US v. Mexico (so is the Home Depot Center for that matter) and in February? I heard the game is going to be at the Rose Bowl or Collisum in Los Angeles.
It was in Columbus in 2001 and 2005 for WCQ. If this was a friendly they might play it in LA to make money, but this is a qualifier, we want home field advantage, and we have that in Columbus.
I will be a cold day in hell before the USA plays a WCQ against Mexico in LA. That would be like giving Mexico two home games. The get 60k in LA for the friendly and 95% are rooting for Mexico. Columbus wouldn.t be bad but neither would Toyota Park or the Razor.Ticket sales sould start after Christmas.
I ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE EVERY GAME, BUT IF THE GAME IS IN COLUMBUS ILL BE THERE WITH MY DRUNK BROTHER AND FLAG!! HAHAH
Anybody remember the 2005 pre/post match celebration @ this place?! http://www.ospub.com/index.php It was AWESOME!!!
No, I don't remember it. I got a $100 Amex pre-paid gift card as a gift the day before I left for Columbus in '05....spent every dime of it at that bar.
I guess I'm the only one who thinks they'd consider Salt Lake?!?!? Utah in February? New stadium? No?
SLC=20% hispanic+people willing to commute from all over the southwest. Columbus=3% hispanic and NO ONE wants to go to Ohio.
The most important numbers aren't those, but are the pre-sale numbers. How many CLB season ticket holders are there vs. RSL season ticket holders?
I have a fuzzy recollection of the post match celebration. Didn't O'shaughnessy's Pub do the tailgate grilling as well?
Doesn't US soccer have a list or something that you can get on to get first crack at tickets? I remember having to pay triple face to get a SA ticket in 05 and Id rather not have to again.
Also the fact that this is in season for Euro leagues, and the fact that CBus is in the eastern time zone, instead of mountain, gives it an edge--it will save flight hours for Euro players, as well as help with time zone adjustment.
Actually, I remember a post match celebration near that place. It was so packed in there and took forever to get a drink, and their patio was almost spilling out into the street. So my buddy and I went next door, got drinks at Gordon Beirsch, then came over to the patio and partied with everyone from just over the rail. Eventually a lot of other guys started doing the same. Then, we found out that the match was going to be replayed on ESPN2 at like 2:30 or 3:00, so right before Gordon Beirsch closed down, we bought a few growlers, walked back to our hotel with them, and watched the match again.
It's not working for me. I try and sign up, and it tells me my e-mail address is already in use. Then when I say I forgot my password, it sends me to a blank screen and does nothing.
If it makes you feel better, it's not working for me either. The US play Sweden at HDC in January.... Yet another reason the February game will not be in LA.
Didnt they also tear down 1/4 of the stands in Columbus? I'm just not sold on the fact that the game will be there.
