Liverpool will be hard pressed to perform better than they did last time. Ok, Carragher had the own goal, but they really gave it their best shot. And sure, we were lucky, but at some level you make your own luck.

Anyhow, the good news is that we already know how hard they'll come at us. The only variable is that Torres will be back, but frankly, I don't see him putting in his best shift quite yet, and there is the chance that he might throw off the rest of the Liverpool system as players and roles are moved around to accommodate him.

But frankly, there will be very little room for error on our end, and unless we put in out best performance of the season, it's bye bye to our best chance of silverware. But we'll be at home and hopefully the lads will be well fired up.

    I believe.

TOTTENHAM,TOTTENHAM NO ONE CAN STOP 'EM!

I predict a 1-0 scoreline. I know, I know its a shutout what am i thinking but I just feel good and am calling a Lennon wonderstrike for the gamewinner.

My 2 probable formations...depending on how Uncle Harry views the league cup...

    --------------Gomes----------
    Hutton--Woodie--Corluka--Bale
    Bentley--Jenas--Hudds--Lennon/O'Hara
    --------------Modric----------
    --------------Bent-----------

    or

    --------------Cesar----------
    Hutton--Rocha--Corluka--Bale
    Lennon--Ghaly--KPB--O'Hara
    --------------Modric----------
    --------------Pavy-----------

You think Cesar will get a start against Liverpool? I can't see that happening. Dawson would play before Rocha, assuming Dawson's ban is expired.

I could see a Campbell start with Lennon playing off him, perhaps.

Liverpool are resting Gerrard, Keane, Alonso, Kuyt, Carragher. Torres likely to start for them though.

    For them, my guess:

    ---------Cavalieri------------
    Arbeloa-Hyypia-Agger-Insua
    Pennant-Plessis-Lucas-El Zhar
    ------Babel----Torres-------

    For us:

    -----------Gomes------------
    Hutton-Dawson-Corluka-Bale
    Bentley-Jenas-Huddlestone-O'Hara
    -------Modric----Pav---------

    something like that.

Really hard to predict this one depending on who plays and what the motivation is. It is a chance for silverware and it's all over by February so should not interfere with Premier league survival, if it came to that. So I'd like us to go for it. At home we have every chance, as long as Torres is a bit rusty.

Wouldn't mind some youngsters thrown in, Mabey Campbell to start? Bostock on the bench?

Bostock I want on the bench. Bostock looks like he could be a killer kid for the future and one that is destined for stardom. I would love Pav out there with Bent maybe Campbell upfront in a 4-4-2. Wouldn't mind seeing Luka on the left with the ability to roam so Bale can push up.

I think we should play our best team, minus only the banned players.

I'd love it if we battered them and won 2-1, as opposed to being battered and winning 2-1 ;)

Any kind of win for us will do.

Yup. I'm not under any illusions, Champions league is out for us, and has been for a while. This cup is a legit route to Europe and needs to be taken seriously.

From BBC: 1908: Early Spurs team news: Roman Pavlyuchenko and Frazier Campbell will lead the line for a Spurs team that does not include Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Luka Modric or Darren Bent. Fernando Torres starts for Liverpool. Full team news to follow.
