Oh yeah, theres a great museum in Churubusco.

Actually that would be a great trip for any American visiting. It's basically a museum on the war with the US and other invasions like with France. It's not overly the top nationalist and you know...the two sides never agreed on the border and then what's his name built a forth right across the Rio Grande. Then both armies met each other and had a scuffle and war broke out.

You get the Mexican perspective on the events. You realize each country has a slanted view on the war, they don't even seem like the same event. The truth is probably somewhere in between. But they call it the war of northern aggression in Mexico.

Anyway...the thing is...the war is never taught in detail in the US, while in Mexico it's taught to every schoolchild since Mexican hasn't had a lot of wars and it was a bigger deal to Mexico.
Again, because the United States had bigger wars and has sent troops into Latin America dozens of times.
Just like American kids are taught what the Monroe Doctrine/How the US always always always messes in the internal affairs of Latin American countries. Since the the 1800s to the 80s (noriega, contras, and etc).

I think they would be morel likely to get it than Americans themselves.

Although I bet a bunch of people waving this flag, would not be gotten by 99% of Americans.

We are two who want to return to Azteca. This time we want to go with the supporters' group. Please let us know when plans are being made.

  6. IMHO, your best bet is to either 1) hook up with other Seattle fans and/or B) join AO and/or SA.

You should also PM SeattleDan. He's either going or can get you in touch with Seattle people who are.

As far as making plans, you should probably do what's best for you and the small group you're with ... there's nothing like a "group tour" that will ever happen here.

Why Not? Soccer Vacations and the Screaming Eagles both had "group" arrangements during 2001 and 2005. Granted Soccer Vacations isn't in business any longer, but I wouldn't be surprised if another company filled the void.

  8. I think there will be plenty of companies/organizations offering group packages. If one of these works for you or whomever, great.

I don't think this BS forum will assemble a group package. My thinking was for that poster to find or assmeble a package that works for thm rather than wait for one to happen here.

It could be worse, the USA could've built all the railroads south of the Rio Grande to the tip of South America.

The total could be changed dramatically by the date selected.

that would be nice considering the lack of allocations in TnT this year. why would USSF expect it next year when they were unable to secure them this year though?

SO USSF tried and failed to get tickets for the T&T match? It's definitely a smoother trip when you can get tickets from USSF, but there are other ways to get them. USSF got tickets for the last Mexico away match, and I'll bet it will make a stronger effort to get tickets to this Mexico away match than for T&T because more fans plan to make this trip than that one.

yes, i am well aware that there are other ways to get tickets. i was in trinidad and got tickets for the match in 'other ways'.
however, if they want fans to make the trip then it is helpful if they can guarantee an allocation. on this board there were a number of people who stated that they had an interest in going to the T&T match but had to pass because they were unsure of the ticket situation.
for a relatively minor match (semi-final when we have already qualified like in T&T) this is one thing but for the hex the USSF has to guarantee an allocation, just like every other federation in the world.

I agree. I think we can bank on getting tickets through USSF for this one.

Haha, or at least not one of the mid-week dates!

  25. Wow ... this may be meaningless, but it may not ...

If you were to book a flight on American Airlines from Dallas to Mexico City today for a Feb 9 - 13 itinerary, the round-trip airfare would be ...

    $278
