Reaction in the two garages was priceless until one of them worked out what had happened (yes, I am a cruel bastard)
A great season got a great ending...well, it would have been the best season in years, hadn't it been for those stupid and unfair decisions by Max "Nazi-Whore-Lover" Mosley and the FIA. I can't remember a season that was this competitive. On a side note, this was also the year of Sebastian Vettel, the best driver in the field IMHO. It's incredible what he could squeeze out of that uncompetitive Toro Rosso. You could see it anytime it rained, because that's when the driver becomes more important than the car. He had several impressive runs, especially in Monza of course but also today. Too bad that Red Bull didn't let McLaren buy him out of his contract. Vettel vs. Hamilton would have been a great pairing...the two best drivers in a Mercedes...But I'm sure they'll sign him for 2010.
Vettel does look a great driver. It would be good to see him, Kubica and Alonso in better cars so they could challenge Hamilton.
Holy shit what an ending! Wow. What the hell happened with Glock in the last two turns. It's like he bottomed out. It looked odd. Regardless, I started to feel bad for Hamilton when it looked over. Who the hell was that hottness in his garage? Nice. I'm very encouraged for Alonso next season. He's made that Renault a fast car again. Here's hoping that he can continue this build up and roll into next season seriously challenging. Now I'm bummed for the season is over.
He was on slicks and the rain got heavier...there was nothing he could do. He gambled, but it didn't work out... That would probably be his girlfriend...Nicole Scherzinger from the **********cat Dolls...lucky bastard...
Don't Ferrari have a stake in this team? You may see that next season. I'm sure Alonso will have a strong package next season & BMW Sauber have been concentrating a lot of their effort on the '09 car. Next season will see a lot of changes in the regulations & a lot of people in the sport think it'll be a very unpredictable season. I'm still in shock over those last few laps, so much action & emotion packed into them. Massa was very impressive as an individual in the press conference.
AFAIK, Ferrari only sells engines to Toro Rosso. No stake in there, especially not in Red Bull which has Renault engines. It sure is going to be very interesting. Massa is definitely a classy guy.
It hurt seeing Massa cry like that on the podium, he had a great season, went toe to toe with Hamilton all the way and came out just one point short. Hurts even more when you think about the number of points lost like in Australia and Mayalsia, as well as Hungary and the embrassment of Singapore.
Well, if the FIA didn't punish Hamilton in an unjustified way, the race would have been over before the race in Brazil. Massa is a classy guy, but Hamilton got fcuked by the FIA. By now, it's no secret that the "F" in "FIA" stands for Ferrari.
To all those people who believe in a conspiracy: Just look at the timeas Glock and Fisichella did. In the last lap, Glock was actually faster than his teammate who was in the same car with the same tires. Also, If Toyota wanted to make a present to Hamilton, they would have switched to rain-tires in the first place. Glock was behind Hamilton and only passed him because he stayed on his slicks. It was a gamble and it didn't work out in the end. But seeing a conspiracy there is simply stupid. It's just a given fact, that you can't drive on a wet course with dry-tires. I almost payed out for Glock, but during the last lap. the rain got heavy. So that was the end of it.
Glock gave it to him. if you look at the last corner. Glock was way right when both vettel and hamilton passed and eventhough he was slipping and sliding he manages to finish right behind hamilton. I also was screaming and yelling thinking Massa won.
Just read my previous post...Glock was actually faster than his teammate. Or think about Spa...Heidfeld went from 10th to 3rd within one lap, because he was on wet tires. Being on dry tires in the wet is gruesome...Glock bet on less rain and lost...This last corner is usually taken at full speed, but it was impossible for Glock under those conditions...he was trying to stay alive. If you don't understand how water affects slicks, then I'm sorry...but that's just the way it is... And again, had Toyota planned to give the title to Hamilton, they would have switched on wet tires in the first place...the dry tires were obviously a gamble. If they wanted to hand the title to Hamilton, why should they have risked that?
we may never know. I'm watching the race right now. I have most of 2008 recorded. it looks like he let them pass and funny how the toyota take grip really fast right after hamilton passes him and in those wet conditions. Timo will repalce kova next year
I still think Alonso is the best driver out there, especially what he did with that renault chassis this year, is just incredible.
We'll never know for sure, but looking at the evidence, it wasn't Timo's fault. Of course he let Hamilton pass, but only because he didn't have a choice. Glock couldn't push the car in that corner with the dry tires, otherwise, he would have killed himself. Hamilton was earlier on the gas and therefore way faster at that point. Really, try to drive with slicks in the rain and you'll understand.
IMHO, Vettel is the best driver in the field right now...look at what he did with the uncompetitive Toro Rosso. When it rained, his talent shined through the mediocre car. Alonso got nothing on Vettel...I'd put my money on Vettel being champion in 2010 or 2011.
Lets hope Vettel does it the right way and not like that scumbag schumacher. I'm sure Damon hill thinks the same thing.
I think you're referring to the 1994 world championship here. Granted, the final race was disgraceful, but Schumacher got fcuked over that season more than anyone else before. Hamilton's punishments this year were nothing compared to Schumacher 1994. The only deserving champion in 1994 was Schumacher, in spite of that final race in Australia. But apart from that, Vettel seems to be much more likable anyway.
