Re: Other Philly Sports Ten: The Start of Something Good. Parade Friday at noon. Meet at a bar along South Broad around 8, find a spot about 10? I want to 'nack this tomorrow...been waiting for it...
Sucks the parade is on Halloween. There's no way I can get up there and back without missing the kids candy haul. (And I missed last year's candy haul due to work ). I'll wait for stories, or find a webcast........ What a night......still seems surreal.
Re: Other Philly Sports Ten: The Start of Something Good. I'd suggest South Philly Taproom on Mifflin a block or so off of Broad...just not sure they'll be open early Friday. But I really don't want to go to one of the big bars either, going to be insane in them. Bob and Barbara's would also be cool, but again, not sure if they'd be open. Other suggestions?
Re: Other Philly Sports Ten: The Start of Something Good. My wife just reminded me I've got my son on Friday. Hell, I think I'm never gonna see one of these parades. Unless Philadephia Athletic might win a cup. Hell, at this rate, I'll have to wait until I can take Charley to the pub with us. He'll be in college, at least, before the next one.
Re: Other Philly Sports Ten: The Start of Something Good. you my good sir...are CLUTCH! Edit: Broad Street was a madhouse by the way
I'll admit it, I cried a little. It's just now starting to hit me that we actually won a championship. I'm not even close to old, but I have sat and watched all four teams blow it in the championship, as have all the rest of you. It always seemed like championships were like God. It's okay to believe in it, and to want to believe in it, and there's some old people who say they remember it, but the recent concrete evidence just isn't there.
i just got back. holy ********ing shit batman. there were couches set on fire, cars flipped, and other property damage done. i'm not sure why all this happened, but it did. it kinda put a damper on the end of the night for me, but it was still really freaking cool to be in the middle of it. unfortunately i think it would take an act of god to get me out of work on friday, but i should prob leave the parade to those that followed the team the whole year., i'll sit back and watch. as my girlfriend put it "i'm in the club now." so congrats to all of those who have waited their whole lives for this moment. it's a great feeling isn't it? and dont' worry, they will choke next year. and i'm sure the flyers will finally figure out that they are awful and not even make a playoff attempt this year.
I'm old enough to "vaguely" remember the Flyers two Cups. I was in second and third grade respectively. I was 14 when the Phils won in 1980 and 17 when the Sixers won in '83. I've lived my entire adult life in either Texas or Germany, but this one is just as sweet. I feel totally blessed as a PhillyPhan to have seen these titles. I won't be home for the parade, but I'll be celebrating nonetheless.... Awesome! Thank you very much!!
I don't know if I'll be joining you guys at the bar. I promised Ben that I would bring him to the parade. My folks didn't take me in 80 or 83, and I want to make sure he gets to see this.
i have a bunch of pics (i wonder if i got that boobie-shot) and a video of the crowd heading down south street towards broad. i should've taken some of this morning's aftermath. will try and take as many as possible of tomorrow's parade.
First the Red Sox, then the Phils -- go put money on the Cubs. Why are we still here? I thought it was the end of the world? I'm not sure why you are all making plans for Friday.
