You'd avoid those pricey international charges...

I've flown Mexicana and AeroMexico before. Both solid. Mexicana has a discount carrier called Click. Not sure if the fly from Juarez to DF though. just look online.

Is Columbus back on USSF good side? I know that after the 05 game, both sides were fighting over ticket revenue.

For those of you traveling from So Cal area on a budget heres some advice: USE THE TJ AIRPORT!!!!! You can get a ROUND TRIP flight right now for 220 USD after taxes and all fees. Peso is very weak right now.

I normally park my car on the US side at a secured parking lot for $5 a day. This lot is dedicated for travelers from the US who don't want to drive into TJ and leave their car there. They shuttle you into TJ directly to the entrance of the airport and pick you up when your back. $15 for round trip shuttle service.

When you're back you just simply show your prepaid ticket to the airport taxis and they take you directly to the US border where you cross by foot (takes 2 minutes) and have another taxi waiting for you on the other side. You save tons of money this way and you are never in any danger. If you want advice on the exact company or more details pm me.

Also I'm interested in going to this game so any socal locals wana meet up and fly together pm me. I have no problem flying from LAX if necessary.

That sounds like a great plan. I guess if anyone's in SoCal, try this!

This trip is a MUST, start saving pennies if you have to. I made this trip in 05 and it was a great experience. As far as safety, I was only 19, hispanic (decked out in American gear) and by myself and not once feared for my life. They weren't the most hospitable fans but come on its Mexico. I cant tell you the rush you get when you step off that bus and thousands of mexican fans come running to you to represent their country and you give it right back to them, we are not the typical American fan they think we are, they know we are here for the full 90. Only a few incidents of beer throwing (I hope it was beer) happened but it will be worth it once we walk out of there with the full three points and the look of 100,000+ mexican fans with disappointment will be forever a lasting image in my memories. Then we take the streets of D.F and party it up at The Zocalo Outlaw style!

It is an awesome experience. I would recommend it at least once in your lifetime. I went in '04 and we did some sight seeing for a day or two before and went to the game as a group of US fans. There was lots of security. I didn't feel unsafe as a female. I'm hoping to make it back in '09. Good times!!!

Yup yup - round up the SCB and the old guard of the SCB :) when we know the dates. I may be the only one crazy enough to do this from my usual trip, but you never know.

So the peso collapsed recently so instead of 10 pesos to the dollar, we're about 13 pesos at the dollar. So yeah.....Mexico will appreciate our business.

I think it was around 11 pre dollar when we were down there for the 2005 game.

Great...a country full of Corona for less than a buck...oh the humanity! :D

Regardless, Mexico is cheaper, whether it is 13 or 10 to 1 (as it was when I was there in 2000). Just look at some hotel listings...

I'm still down for this. as are my usual SCB partners in crime: Andric and Romero.

I just keep checking back to this thread once a month or so to see if there's any updates.

It's currently 13.5 pesos to the dollar. As long as I don't check my 401K statements before I go, I'll feel rich.

Also - check out this page about Beer Myths and look at #9 - Corona is Mexican Piss. Turns out that rumor was started by a Heinekin distributor.

I prefer Bohemia myself or Pacifico...******** Corona.

But anyway, it's all about the Micheladas and street tacas al pastor.
    Shit, mind if I come with you guys...even if I'm a 50-50 Mexico-USA fan?:D

Corona is what they had in the USA fan section in 2005. A guy with a large styrofoam cooler of the stuff. $2 in the stadium. Price gougers

Please join us, the friend I'm going with is going for Mexico so we'll split up before the game. (If you are 50/50 you might as well join us because the atmosphere will be much more intense.)
