WTF?? I swear, yesterday both games were listed on RTP's website, now they're not there. I smell a problem between RTP and TVi or Setanta. Pretty Pathetic if you ask me...
Livesoccertv.com has their schedule listed as: 2:00pm Malta vs Portugal P2P, RTPi, Setanta Sports Canada, Setanta Sports USA, Setanta-Broadband Live World Cup 2010 Qualifying
Setanta USA's website has game listed as live at 2pm. This is NOT the premium channel I'm talking about either. They were there yesterday, I saw it as well. As it says, it was updated today, 9/3. Either way, it will still be on Setanta.
Dealing with RTP is like dealing with condoms. You don't want to use it, but you don't want to have to pay for it neither.. P.S: I just checked the website its back up?
The Portugal game still hasnt been but back on RTPi's schedule but I emailed them yesterday to find out whats going on. They said they will be airing the qualifiers but at this point I dont know if I believe it....
Arg, now the U-21 game isn't showing up anywhere on RTPi for tomorrow and neither is the AA game on Saturday.
IMHO, I don't think that RTPi will show these matches and I hope that I am wrong on this. With the animosity between RTP and TVI at the moment, I can't see TVI giving RTP the oportunity to broadcast these matches, especially considering that the upcoming matches will be broadcast in some way shape or form (in North America, at least, they'll be on Setanta Sports USA and Canada). If you guys are really angry, and I suspect that many of you are, e-mail TVI directly. TV rights are big business. The FPF or the Ministry of Sport or whomever else really couldn't care less about who has the matches - the bottom line is that they get as much as they can from whomever is bidding on the rights. So, for those of you who really want to watch these games in Portuguese, e-mail TVI and urge them to either off-load the games to RTP or SIC (both of whom have international channels), or to create their own international version of the channel. Someone organize a petition that would circulate not only in North America but Europe, Asia and Africa, too. Getting this initiative organized in a manner like this may be the only way to ensure that the majority of Portuguese NT followers around the world get an opportunity to watch the NT on an open channel. Let publications like the main sports dailies (A Bola, Record and O Jogo) know what's happening. Notify the major newspapers, too, and also popular websites. If this gets done, and word gets around that these games may not be shown to the Portuguese public living outside of Portugal, then I am sure that action will be taken favourably. Good luck...
RTPI is a joke for not showing these games, half the people that probably purchased access to that channel only use it to view soccer.
Sorry bud but I have to disagree with you. I think the more people you email the better. From my recent experience I can tell you that TVI has been the only entity that has not responded to my emails. The other entities have at least passed along my message to RTP/TVI so in essence they are multiplying my efforts. In reality it doesn't take much. You write up one email and just send it to various email addresses, you just may need to make some slight modifications to the email. If Saturdays game isn't aired on RTPi I was already thinking of starting an online petition and contacting o Luso Americano and o 24 Horas.
The only reason I put up the satellite in the first place is to watch soccer matches on RTPi. If true, this really blows.
