I'd really like to know where you get this "official" news from..

If it's true, I guess Teno will fit right in in Monaco with his Lamborghini. :)

Caicedo got starts and played for about 70 minutes against Hamburg SV and then Stockport Country. He was on the bench this past weekend for their match against AC Milan. From the match reports, it sounds like he at least contributed something to the attack.

It will be interesting to see if Caicedo gets more playing time though.
Darius Vassell just went down with a knee injury and is expected to be out 10 weeks. Benjani is still out with an injury, until the early part of September I believe. Jo is still off at the Olympics for Brazil.

So they are supposedly down to 5 strikers and one of them (Rolando Bianchi) wants a transfer to Italy's Serie A. Also, Valeri Bojinov just came back from a year long injury.

Man City have been saying they are still trying to get players before the transfer window closes including another striker, but with all the upheavel with the owner's assets, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Hopefully, Caicedo will get some playing time. Supposedly they have 4 matches in 8 days during the last week of August. (2 Premier League matches, a UEFA Cup second leg, and a second round Carling Cup match)

Manchester City face a difficult second leg in Denmark in a after losing at home. Let's hope they can turn this around. It would be good to see Caicedo in the UEFA Cup. Caicedo played until the 64th minute which is good news.

Although the man city fans are unhappy with him, I think they have unreasonable expectations. Realistically, if everyone was available and healthy, Caicedo would be Man city's 6th or 7th striker behind Jo, Benjani, Darius Vassell, Valeri Bojinov, Daniel Sturridge and Ched Evans. Nery Castillo who is listed as an attacking mid on the official man city site also gets some time up top at striker. They just think that since Sven-Goran Eriksson brought him in last season for 5 million pounds (I think, 7 million Euros), that he should be scoring 20+ goals.

Now, I am not saying Caicedo can't score that many this season. As far as I know this game was only his 3rd start and the fans are already trying to write him off as a waste of talent and money.

IMHO, Caicedo might have been loaned out this season if Jo wasn't at the Olympics, Benjani and Vassell weren't injured, and Bojinov wasn't coming back from a year long injury and lacks fitness.

In my opinion, Man City fans seem to be trying to use Caicedo as a scapegoat because they are having a disastrous pre-season.
    1) The owner's assets are getting frozen as he faces corruption charges.
    2) Their top strikers are off at the Olympics or injured.
    3) Mark Hughes (their new manager) had to quash media speculation this week that he was leaving.
    4) Blackburn Rovers immediately rejected City's latest 12 million pound transfer offer for striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The list seems to go on and on.....

Only thing I have seen on Tenorio's transfer was this article on goal.com yesterday....

Although, I think I remember reading somewhere that Al Saad has been demanding a pretty large sum for Teno's transfer fee, so he might be stuck there until his contract runs out.... which I think is in June 2009....

    http://www.goal.com/en-US/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=817828

Carlos Tenorio is a player coveted by the board of the Monegasque club for some now. An Ecuadorian attacker currently featuring on a regular basis in the Qatari league, he remains the primary target of the Mediterranean club according to Mercato365.

The website reports that negotiations are in an advanced – even completed – stage with the player yet an agreement has to be found between Monaco and Al Saad, the 29 year-old’s current club. At present, it seems that an accord is still some way off.

Really discouraging to hear that about Caicedo.

#1, Man City wasn't really doing that great when he arrived, they were losing games left and right. It's not like they started losing all of a sudden because he arrived.

#2, he is 19 years old!! I think it's tough for him because he is huge and looks like a grown 25 year-old man. Most 19 year-olds look smaller and skinnier than the rest of the players, so they get a break when it comes to expectations.

#3, he is NOT a striker! I mean you guys have seen him play, he likes to get the ball around 35 yards out and dribble and pass. I don't know why he is this way, but that's just what I've noticed. Frankly I don't expect a lot of goals from him for Ecuador, but he has shown he can create goals and make special plays. Playing him as a striker and expecting bunches of goals shows complete ignorance by the coaching staff and fans.

If Man City are smart, they have to nurture their investment. Loan him out to a smaller team on loan, where he'll get playing time and experience. Let them deal with the EPL adjustment and maturing period. If he starts showing his true potential, then bring him back on to play a real part on the team (not 7th striker). If he struggles, then take the loss and sell him - but at least he'll have experience playing in EPL, which will keep the price high.

That's one of those rant boards where frustrated fans go to vent their anger...doesn't seem like a place for a healthy, objective discussion.

LOL, you are right. And I didn't mean for you to stay and discuss, or argue, rather than to just drop your bomb and get the hell out of there as fast as you can!!!!!! :D

But, but Valencia is the only proven player. De La Cruz also had a good first season.

El Tin and Chala with the "Saints" and Kaviedes with Palace kinda were disapointments.

All the best to Caicedo and Castillo. Valencia has proven to be valuble to his team, here's hoping the other two can do the same!

I am really glad to see Castillo with a quality team in England...while they're not in the big 4, they are proven to be a tough team and always fight for UEFA cup spots and even have made strides to challenge the big dogs of the PL from time to time....plus, Castillo might be taking part in one of the world's most bitter rivalries and city derbies (Everton-Liverpool). que emocion!!!

good luck to you Castillo!!! I met this dude and he is one cool ass cat and its great bc he's so down to earth

I hope Caicedo leaves Man City some how. That club is a disaster on and off the field.

It's a good thing Castillo left Red Star. They didn't even make the UEFA Cup this year.
