a conditional fourth round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft http://real.saltlake.mlsnet.com/new...ent_id=180169&vkey=pr_rsl&fext=.jsp&team=t121 Not like we were expecting a player in return
Which reminds me... dont the LAG front office fight for anything? We had his rights, why not put up some problems for RSL since they are in first place. Negotiate a bit... like how Toronto did to Chicago for McGroom. I mean we just gave up Mathis for nothing. At least hold Mathis' rights for a couple weeks so RSL has to scramble around without him. Plus we might gain a few points in standings and even get something more in the process. Maybe Tim should be a congressman and sell out our country to China for nothing. Oh wait, thats already be done.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy have little bargaining power right now. Roster space & cap room would prevent a player trade. Allocation $ would have been better, but I really didn't expect much for Cletus' rights.
Not sure there really was much negotiating leverage. RSL could have gotten along fine without Cletus, so their interest was minimal (compared with Chicago and the league and McBride all wanting him to play there). Actually, we get something for Cletus, which is more than I expected. I just wonder if Cletus didn't want to come here or LAG had no interest in him. Just curious.
I think it was more of a case of him and Kries being good friends - and the fact that he never sold the house he bought in Park City in 2004.
so in the end, we send away our 3rd round draft pick for him. Now we traded him for a 4th round pick. Here's a thought, why not just trade our 3rd round for someone's 4th round. Skip all the extra work and get straight to stupidity.
