Rorys Aragon, Felix Borja, Joffre Guerron, Christian Noboa, Edison Mendez, Segundo Castillo, Jose Valencia, Antonio Valencia...not enough for u?
Edmundo Zura is going to play for Newcastle Jets (Australia) they have called him a marque player so he doesn't have to impress he will be given a starting role from the beginning he arrive there yesterday and has a physical Monday then he has to get a sporting passport and he can start playing
This is really a shame. He will end up like C. Tenorio, scoring tons of goals but never getting any serious consideration from major teams. I think this also seriously hurts his chances of playing on the national team, as it doesn't seem to provide the competitive level he'll need to play at the international level.
Joffre Guerron - Getafe FC (ESP) Segundo Castillo - Estrella Roja (SER) Ulises De la Cruz - Watford FC (ING) Luis Antonio Valencia - Wigan Athletic (ING) Edison Méndez - PSV Eindhoven (HOL) José Luis Valencia - Willem II (HOL) Felipe Caicedo – Manchester City (ING) Rorys Aragón - Royal Standard Lieja (BEL) Félix Borja -Mainz 05 (ALE) Christian Noboa – Rubin Kazan (RUS) Jorge Rivera - Wuppertaler SV (ALE) Daniel Reinoso - MOSS (NOR) Damián Lanza – Arezzo Calcio (ITA)
Agreed. He couldn't crack the starting lineup in Barcelona, now he's their "star" acquisition. That tells you something about the level of the league. It really is too bad because this is (was) one of our future hopes.
That "star" just dimmed 100,000,000,000 kilowatts - by the way, what ever happened to our Real Madrid C team "super star" that ended up in Emelec??? guerrero, I believe...
In red are active first-team national team players. In blue are guys that have played before but have not been selected lately. Before you go on about why there are not as many as other countries, keep in mind the size of Ecuador is only 13M people. And 8 years ago this list did not even exist. Joffre Guerron - Getafe FC (ESP) Segundo Castillo - Estrella Roja (SER) Ulises De la Cruz - Watford FC (ING) Luis Antonio Valencia - Wigan Athletic (ING) Edison Méndez - PSV Eindhoven (HOL) José Luis Valencia - Willem II (HOL) Felipe Caicedo – Manchester City (ING) Rorys Aragón - Royal Standard Lieja (BEL) Félix Borja -Mainz 05 (ALE) Christian Noboa – Rubin Kazan (RUS) Jorge Rivera - Wuppertaler SV (ALE) Daniel Reinoso - MOSS (NOR) Damián Lanza – Arezzo Calcio (ITA)
it's not even trash talking but just to look at the perspective: ecuador is a tiny country that has mostly homegrown talent that took us to 2 consecutive world cups. other teams (i will not mention names) have dozens of players that play for caliber teams all over the world but still cannot classify to a world cup even with all the talent... so what's the REAL lesson behind that? NOTHING, it's all BS. what team you play on matters as much as knowing what kind of underwear i'm currently wearing at any given point during the day, the only thing it will prove is that those players make more money than others that stay in south america.
Here's South American ranking of countries by population. Logically the bigger the country, the more players available, and the better the teams should be. In this sense, I would say Colombia and Peru are not meeting expectations, and Paraguay and Uruguay are above expectations. I leave out Venezuela because it is not a footballing country. Brazil 191,908,598 Colombia 45,013,674 Argentina 40,677,348 Peru 27,925,628 Venezuela 26,414,815 Chile 16,454,143 Ecuador 13,927,650 Bolivia 9,247,816 Paraguay 6,347,884 Uruguay 3,477,778
Wigan boss Steve Bruce is set to snap up Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo. (Daily Mirror) Hope this time Castillo goes through. I like Wigan. Hopefully they will challenge for a top 10 spot this season.
I doubt this will happen. Unfortunately Wigan have Paul Scharner, their captain and top player, in the defensive mid position. It's just not a fit. On the other hand, C. Tenorio was rumored as an interest for Wigan earlier this year, but that never happene either. Everybody who watched Wigan last year knows they need a consistent scorer. Would have loved to see Valencia feeding crosses into Tenorio.
Wonder whats going to happen in Man City. Has Caicedo even played any of the pre season matches?? Premier League monitor Thaksin City situation
Actually Carlos Tenorio is officially going to Monaco of the French A ... Monaco is one of the best teams in the French League... But I would have loved to see him together with Valencia in Wigan... As for Segundo Castillo... I think he would do great in a top level English team.. Wigan would be a great stepping stone.. and I admire Wigan's passion and determination to rise to the top.. they are really showing they want the club to grow... They have shown keen interest in Ecuadorian talent... that's great.
