Not exactly MLS related, but because that bastard takes every opportunity to bash MLS, I admit that I'm experiencing a LOT of schadenfreude at this news.

Mods, if this is too off topic, please feel free to move it elsewhere.

Italian police arrest seven linked in mafia bid for Rome club Lazio

    Ha ha ha, Giorgio. Karma.

The question is who is the first BigSoccer poster to see him and report him to the authorities.

He owns the Cosmos name, right?

MLS can now use the name without consequence cause this fool will be in prison or on the run and not able to protest/sue.

He does not own the rights to "Cosmos" Brand. That is owned by a former club official.

I meant the "well-known" to modify "MLS hater," not Chinaglia.

As in "it's well-know by dweebs on BigSoccer that Chinaglia hates MLS."

    :D

hmm, he fled the US two years ago... Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he do some analysis for ESPN during the World Cup in '06? I suppose he must've left shortly after that.

He "is believed to have fled to the United States two years ago."

He left Italy and is currently in the USA.

He's tied into a crime syndicate?

In Russia, players get plaques and medals for that.

The funniest thing in all this is how hard he tried to pass himself off as a legitimate businessman. It took hours to get the snake oil off even after shaking the guy's hands. A waste of a human being.

I'm surprise the USSF hasn't employed him already.

Was there ever any allegations of misconduct re the demise of ChampionsWorld LLC, or was that just your garden variety Chapter 11 filing?

Never heard the whole story there...

I know I shouldn't but I kind of like Giorgio. I really liked seeing him and Eric go at it in the studio. Being charged with this sort of thing in Italy? You've got to be kidding. I'm under the impression that there is a lot of corruption in Italy so why go after this guy? Did he fail to make the right bribes or something?
