Ok, y'all use the interwebs. This thread is for brainstorming any and all ideas (boring or crazy) for what we can do to make BigSoccer better. This thread is not really intended to be a policy thread, but more about the products we currently offer and what products we should offer. What you expect out of this, or any, soccer website. Thanks.
For the 7000 posts after this...bring back the yellow. Now that that has been said, you can disregard 7000 of the next 7005 posts.
PDA Apps that go beyond the current mobile interface making it easier to view most frequent forums, manage messages, etc. Facebook has one for BlackBerry that is easy to use. It isn't a full version of facebook, but allows updates to status, photo uploads, friend list view, friend invites, wall posts, and messaging that are all accessible through an icon and GUI.
On my profile page, specifically for Friends & Contacts, I'd like to be able to take private notes dedicated to each friend. For example, as I get to know random user Huss, I'd like to be able to put... real name John... wife Betty... birthday 01-04-65... likes turtles... hates bears... whatever. Most of this type of information I have through PM's, but it's getting tougher to keep all of those random PM's due to lack of space - not to mention it's not very efficient.
A button that allows us to go to the first unread post on the next subscribed thread within the current thread I'm reading. Maybe this button exists and I don't know about it yet.
One of my wish list items is for Personal Messages to act more like email. Reply All, search, sort, etc.
Once and for all, get rid of the [R] rule. It's all but useless anymore anyway... the front page is always riddled with results. It's universally recognized (or should be) that if you want to stay ignorant about a soccer result, it's best to stay off of BigSoccer altogether. It's outdated, impracticable, unenforceable, annoying, and unneeded.
Agreed - even just getting the option to Reply All would be great. The ability to sort by sender would be a close second. Also - is there any way the number of posts per page could be increased? I really liked having 40 posts/page. Much easier to make your way through longer Pre-match/PBP-style threads.
Get rid of the sockpuppets. (aka - if you can do something so that there isn't a WR-related bitchfest in this forum every month, that would be awesome.) Ok, seriously, some sort of BigSoccerIM whereas their BS screenname could be typed into some sort of downloadable IM client and then regular IM'ing could occur. Obviously, this would be some sort of agreed-to thingy, as i'm sure not everyone would want to join. Just like Yahoo, you could leave messages for people to see when they return. Then you go to www.trillian.cc and do whatever you'd need to do to make it work over there. I do like the "go to first unread post in next thread" idea.
Seconded. Although I can see why Huss wouldn't - that probably means fewer page views for them and their advertisers. 40 would be nice but 25 is a good compromise.
I use My BigSoccer to navigate and I'm subscribed to several boards. I'd like to be able to use "Mark Forums Read" and only have it apply to my subscribed forums.
True, but I liked 40 more. -- This isn't gonna put me off of BS for good or anything, it'd just be nice to have. I'll deal if not, just throwing it out there.
Hit counter for blogs please Functionality attached to friend list (whats the point at the moment?) More input from clubs into the forums.
1) As a moderator, if I create a new thread, I would like to have a checkbox ability to make my first post always the top post of page one of that thread regardless of date/time stamp of the others. This would be effective when a tangent breaks out on an existing thread and they need to be moved into their own thread/topic. As it stands now, I create the new thread, move over the posts from another and now my lead in is buried 20 posts down and people who come to the new thread are reading maybe a reply to something that started it all the discussion in the original thread. Thus the topic is then not introduced very well until the moderator post that happens to be number 20 or whatever. Call the thread tool "header post", or "headline post" or something that prioritizes those first over the date/time stamp posts sort order. 2) More smilies!
I like those. Add - 1. Move blogs off the front page. If I want to read a blog I'll search it out. 2. Let me have "My BigSoccer" as my front page. 3. Access to view other people's reputation. 4. Lose the "visitor messages" Oh yeah, when I log on, I want a soft voice that says: "You're Good Enough, You're Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like You!"
The option of having a stripped down skin (basically akin to the feature levels of when I first joined). I've probably got more entries here than anywhere else in my various Firefox extension preferences and I still haven't successfully got rid of all of them.
