well, this season is going to be rough. I'll be lucky to stay up in FC and I'm just hoping for a playoff in the ODers!

With Peters cleared out of FC and a bot coming in, I think I should finally have a clear path to promotion there. howzzat is going to be a stiff challenge in OD, though their bowling lineup is pretty weak after Kepler. I'm getting a double match against them Friday/Sunday as I host them for both league and cup. With Sarge back in form, I'm hoping that I'll be able to carry both matches, but if I have to win only one of them, I want it to be the league match.

It's a little disappointing to lose my FC opener, mainly because it's hard to imagine it going any better than it did. We cleared the max points run total after 50 overs, Dempster struck for an eight-wicket haul in the first innings, and the match was in the books very early in the second day.

The big positive is the delay of the OD opener; I'm trying something a little different pitch-wise to try to beat howzzat, and I'll get a dry run in the Cup. As much as I'd like to stick past one round in the cup, the ODL game is far more important to me because winning the league is likely to come down to me and them.

ended up winning the replay in 2 days by an innings & 88 runs, worked out well for my team. sent my opponent a mail telling him how unlucky he was after doing so well to earn a draw in the scratched games.

    yep, i'm still batting.

End of Over 113 (1 runs). Cook County Cricket Club: 395-4, runrate=3.50
    Mabaso 21-4-55-2
    Olivier* 1 (5 balls)
    Harris 135 (327 balls)

Last Wicket: Black lbw b. Mabaso 87 (FOW: 394/4)

won't get to 500 (my target) but I wouldn't win this one anyways so I need to guarantee a draw, or get as close to a guarantee that I can

Well, it turns out that the replay of the FC match went about the same as the first go at it. We finished our batting innings a little quicker, I think they stretched out their two innings a little bit more, and Dempster only got a seven-wicket haul instead of eight (and in the second innings instead of the first). On the plus side, future Windian U19 Elvis "The King" Ryan made his debut for the club, taking two wickets in five overs of work in the first innings.

The cup match kinda sucked. The bats hung in well enough against Kepler to post a 300+ total on a flat pitch, but my bowling blew it, they were unable to get a fifth wicket and the partnership went for something like 200 runs as howzzat won in the 49th over. We'll be trying something a little different in the ODL match, as I kinda feel like that result was fairly representative.

i somehow made it to 500 and am bowling a hell of a lot better then I should be.

    End of Over 43 (7 runs). 3wide.com Strike CC: 145-6, runrate=3.37
Trail by 357 runs. (Cook County Cricket Club 502-6 dec)
    Gardner 7-1-36-0
    Bentley* 77 (132 balls)
    Wharton 3 (13 balls)

Last Wicket: Garvey c. Harris b. Wild 8 (FOW: 130/6)

    End of Over 67 (4 runs). 3wide.com Strike CC: 280-5, runrate=4.18 (1st Inn: 166-10)
Trail by 155 runs. (Cook County Cricket Club 502-6 dec & 99-10)
    Keane 12-0-53-1
    Garvey* 32 (40 balls)
    Crowther 142 (164 balls)

Last Wicket: Thorpe c. Coetzer b. Rose 24 (FOW: 226/5)

my bats failed the 2nd time around and my bowling as been sucky. Should've won this one, but it'll be a draw. For some reason my captain skipped by #4 bowler (he did the same in the aborted match) and he's my spinner and he's a million times better then the bowlers I have going now.

Why didn't you enforce the follow-on? You had a 300+ run lead after their first innings. It doesn't really matter what your bats did in your second innings because your bowlers won't have enough time to get them bowled out. Your strategy was basically playing for a draw.

I didn't have the follow up button ticked because I didn't expect to bowl them out for 166 the first time around.

I dunno, I'd figure with a total of 500+, it'd be hard to go wrong enforcing the follow-on even if they were closer than 300. Even if your bowlers had a tough time, I think the worse case scenario would have been a draw.

A real shocker in the one-day league match. I switched to a green pitch and swapped Morrell and Dempster (to reduce the number of overs with two destructive players bowling at the same time). howzzat appear to have cut out some of their regulars, they may have been going easy, and as a result of it all, this happened:

And that's the end of the match. Norse Athletic Club won by 9 wickets.
    howzzat 23-10
    Norse Athletic Club 24-1

I expected him to be batting all day and at like 400 at the end of the day.

run rate was above 6 for a time, but has dropped off.

    End of Over 45: 237-3, runrate=5.27
    Cudworth 8-0-48-1
    Harris* 124 (138 balls)
    Olivier 22 (14 balls)

Last Wicket: Spearitt b. Cudworth 15 (FOW: 197/3)

If he'd gotten to 400, though, the follow-on would have been moot anyway because the margin would have been inside 150.

yep, which is why I didn't bother setting it, i should've just set it anyways.

oh well, won my match today, to avenge my losses last season to Doctors. Harris was brilliant today, hitting 151 and almost carried his bat.
