Thanks for the heads up, hadn't seen that. Looks like tickets went on sale yesterday on ticketmaster.

Probably would be better in this thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=690286&page=2

But that's interesting considering the article in that thread about playing at CBAC...

I hope as a STH that we get to use one of our extra tickets for this game....otherwise those who act late or expect to buy tickets at the game will be SOL, especially if it is LA.

I'm surprised there's been no public announcement of this by the team.

Probably making sure all of their ducks are in a row before announcing anything. Although I am suprised it would be rolled out via a flyer within the SM School disctrict without something more public being announced.

We're intentionally scheduling a match to be played on plastic grass with football lines? The facility is brand new so I don't know whether a european style track (such as we put in at Bishop Miege) was installed. That at least allows a 70 yd wide pitch.

    Re: How difficult is it

It is a European-style track. The field is 72 yards wide, I believe.

We faced a good problem here that unfortunately limited the choice of facilities....

Yes, this is Special Game A. No need to do any sort of swapping...just bring that ticket to the gate.

If you would like to buy additional/any tickets to the game at a discounted rate, give me a call at 913-387-3413.

Due to the greatly increased number of season tickets, we could not hold the game at many of the smaller venues (BVNW, for one) because the number of Special Game A tickets exceeds the capacity of those venues. Chris Wyche, the VP for Operations, vetted more or less every venue in the city, and this was literally the last one he looked at...and the one that best suited our needs.

The parking lots at the stadium itself will be reserved for people with parking passes...I'll make a new post with the details, plus STH will receive it in an email.

So does anyone know what the closest bar is to there. I am just going to assume that consuming alcohol on location is prohibited!

The Keyhole. Right off Johnson Drive about 30 seconds east of the high school. When you look up "hole in the wall bar," I'm pretty sure there's a picture of this place. And they serve Busch, which is feckin' hysterical.

I've been there to watch some basketball games. For those of you who are older, I BELIEVE it used to be called Beamers.

Kansas City Wizards to Host Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Play-In Match Wednesday, June 4 at Shawnee Mission North High School

(May 16, 2008) – The Kansas City Wizards announced today that the team will host a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play-in game Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. CT at Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kan. The Wizards will face the winner of the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Colorado Rapids, who play May 27 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Season ticket holders will use their ticket for “Special Game A.” All other individual tickets will be $20 general-admission seats, and group tickets will be available for $15. Season ticket holders will also be able to use their “Special Game A” parking passes for reserved parking adjacent to the field at the intersection of Johnson Drive and Metcalf Lane on a first-come, first-served basis. High school students, faculty and staff in the Shawnee Mission School District will receive one free ticket with their student and/or district I.D. and will be able to purchase additional tickets at the group rate. For tickets, visit Ticketmaster.com here. Gates will open at 6 p.m. for the event.

Six MLS teams qualified automatically to the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup based on their 2007 regular-season finish. The remaining seven U.S.-based MLS teams square off in a play-in tournament for the chance to be one of the final two teams to represent MLS in the Open Cup. Beginning this year, the Open Cup winner advances automatically to the inaugural CONCACAF Champions League (formerly the CONCACAF Champions Cup) that takes place from August 2008 to April 2009.

Kansas City won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2004, defeating the Chicago Fire 1-0 on a late goal from forward Igor Simutenkov. The Wizards did not qualify for the Open Cup last year, falling to Real Salt Lake 2-1 in extra time of a play-in match.

It will be good to see the boys live and in person again....despite playing on fake grass with lines. :D Two solid months is way too long to go without a home game.

I hear this place is a little on the small side.

Too bad this isnt on a Thursday because the Blue Moose has $1.50 bottles and that includes imports and they have about everything including Newcastle.

It is, but I think it would be cool packed with Wizards fans.

There's also chain places right there like Applebee's and Outback. A little farther east on Johnson drive is a place I've driven by called "JJ's Other Place," but I've never been there. Could be cool, could also be a non-soccer friendly biker bar.

I know there's gotta be more places around there, but I just can't think of any at the moment. On another note, I'm moving into a house right off Johnson Dr. behind Town Topic in August. So I better get to know about the establishments in that area.

Jerry's Bait Shop is just a little East, just off Johnson Drive...never been there but it's supposed to be a pretty cool place.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Gullit may decide not to start Becks because we have selected a turf surface for the game?

I wouldn't be surprised if Beckham isn't even there (if LA gets through), especially since England plays in Trinidad 3 days before. And 3 days before that, England plays the US (Beckham was called into camp).
