This is a thread for posting recognition for everything we wouldn't have won the title without. It can be an event, a player (don't say Ronaldo we all know we wouldn't have won the title without him), a referee, a call, or anything else. I'm gonna start with Pique. Played really well in some big games during the stretch, fully deserves his premier league medal, and I expect to see him at Old Trafford for years to come.
Not without Wesley Brown, Owen Hargreaves, John O'Shea and other usually rounded reserves. I'll be the first to admit that I've had harsh criticism for all of the above, but I can certainly acknowledge their contribution to our title. Its quite often not your best XI that wins you titles, but the guys who come in when there are injuries or to keep others fresh. We competed along 3 fronts for much of the campaign and its these guys and Tommy K to a lesser extent who helped us along with more recognized players, to get the job done. Well done squaddies, this title and the fact that we reached the CL final is due in no small part to your effort.
Park really came through during the run-in. After coming back from a long lay off due to injury, I don't think many of us expected this sort of contribution from him during the most important time of the season. He's made himself a starter during the past few games including the Barca matches and I wouldn't be surprised if he started the Final.
Park and the rest of the squaddies for me as well. Park was huge for us. Hargreaves found a sort of role/niche as a right sided player with drive and running. Silvestre spelled Evra in some big matches recently, with very little drop in quality. Fletch once again made some real big game cameos, with the brace against Arsenal my personal fave. Our size of squad has really gotten us this far - just one more step now. OH and FFS, 30+ appearances by Anderson??!! When I and others thought he'd be a reserve player this season? Absolutely inspired buy - once we get him a pair of shooting boots, it's on...
Nani, came in, offered energy off the bench, leading assist getter and scored some vital goals (Tottenham). Saha, although he didn't play very much he won us a game vs Sunderland early on, every point counts.
The goals from Tevez against Tottenham and Blackburn were huge, no doubt. Yes, they ended up technically not mattering since we won by two points anyways, but going into the final weekend down two points rather than with the GD advantage would have been a whole different situation. Special shoutout to the squaddies, especially in midfield where they allowed some seamless rotation and coverage through a few injury situations. Kudos to Anderson, Park, Nani, Fletcher, and Hargreaves (and often O'Shea).
The tevez goal vs. Argentina was one of my favourite moments of the season and I don't think we would have won the title without it.
