If only for the simple reason that they are moving their entire VW USA corporate headquarters to Herndon, VA. Sponsoring a very European thing (a soccer team), would seem to help their image as a classy, cheaper alternative to European luxury. Also, as a simple way to let people know that VW is now so close to them...

Seriously. It took longer for people on here to know that Roy Lassiter was the "player to be named" for Chris Albright.
