I visited Anfield with my brother last year and was moved by the memorial especially when I remember most who lost their lives were around the same age as me.

Former players to read lessons at Hillsborough serviceApr 15 2008

    Liverpool Echo

FORMER footballers Brian Hall and Gary Ablett will lead commemorations for todays 19th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster service.

Glasgow-born Hall, who played more than 150 times for Liverpool, and Ablett, currently the reserve team manager, will deliver the readings at a memorial service held at Anfield.

Manager Rafael Benitez, chief executive Rick Parry, players and club staff, will join up to 3,000 people at the Kop for a minutes silence at 3.06pm - the moment the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest was halted.

Hall is expected to read Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd, and Ablett will read from Isaiah 43:1-3a Fear not, for I have redeemed you.

During the service the 96 names of the dead will be read out and a candle lit in memory of each victim.

It's only a game...we love it, we cry and shout over it, but it's only a game.

I just finished watching the Hillsborough memorial service. I've never seen one and I found it very moving. A time to reflect and grieve. A time to remember that our club is bigger than results, money or stadiums.

I keep hearing that the documentary Hillsborough is the best account ever made of the tragedy, but getting a copy of it has been absolutely impossible so far.

To all my fellow Liverpool fans out there.

It'll be 19 years on Tues 15th April 2008 since our 96 fans died at Hillsborough, so it'll be nice for me to dedicate the Sting song Fields Of Gold to them.

There were many requests for the Hillsborough tribute piece on episode #33 of the podcast MP Red as a stand alone. Here is it.

It might help us realize that there are more important things.
