I definitely get more info from him then I provide, so I should probably be compensating him... That said I might just hit him up for a free lunch next time he comes to town.

Thanks for the heads-up smithfan. Hertha is great with youth work, but I kinda doubt he's worth too much of a shout. We already have incredible teenagers (Ebert, the Boatengs, not too mention my favorite, Zhan Xu ;) )

Bump for Morales being named to an U-20 team playing in Portugal.

I wonder if this guy speaks English.

Say what you you will about Thomas Rongen, but he is far more willing to look at US citizens who didn't grow up in the US than Bob Bradley, Bruce Arena and many of his USSF contemporaries are and were.

Whether that's a good thing or not can be debated and so far it hasn't resulted in much of the way of senior national team players. But, he is definitely looking at plenty of "Amis" in Europe who often seem to be American in passport only.

I don't have any inside info on the kid but I wouldn't doubt that the kid is the product of a military family and speaks English.

Alfredo went the full 90 against Northern Ireland yesterday and must have played well as ussoccer.com had him assisting on a goal, but it was changed today for some reason.

The fact that he's actually playing for our U-20 team would lead me to believe he wants to paly for us. No shit, but it's cool.

Or Spanish considering the name and his favorite food (liebgericht) is some kind of Peruvian fish dish. Probably something his parents cooked at home.

Fredo speaks English. I hosted an exchange student a few years ago who is a good friend (played with him at Hertha BSC) of his. We're wise to keep an eye on him. I caught a Hertha BSC/TeBe game in Berlin this winter and caught up with him. He's not only a good player, but seemed like a good kid.

Morales has been playing regularly with Hertha's U-19 (as has McLouglin, who's also made at least one appearance with Hertha II). Alfredo scored a goal in a match late last month.

McLoughlin came on in the 74th minute for Hertha II this past Sunday. I don't think Morales has made an appearance with Hertha II yet though.

Morales' goal with the U-19s was on Sept. 27. Looks like it came off a corner. He's started nearly every game so far. McLoughlin's started a few as well.

Morales scored yesterday for Hertha's U-19 team. Header off a free kick, I believe. And judging by the lineup he played midfield, which is interesting. Ellis McLoughlin came on in the second half.

Morales also scored back on March 8, off a corner, which would be at least his 3rd goal so far I think.

    nice thanks for the update!

Hopefully these Euro kids (Diskerud, Morales, Mcloughlin, etc.) get another look before September.

Alfredo just returned from the U20 games against Costa Rica. Given that our opening U20 World Cup game is against Germany and Alfredo is a native German-speaker who has played against most of the German kids in the Junior Bundesliga, he could be a good asset (along with his American Hertha BSC teammates) in preparing for, and playing in, the important opener.

There are a couple videos of him on YouTube:

Do both of these kids have a good chance of making the WC roster? because they are hardly called to camp.
