It was my first time in a supporters section anywhere. I read Oz City for a while, and the post there generated a lot of controversy, so I definately wanted to come up and see what it was really like in the supporters section. I got the privilige of doing that today/yesterday, depending on if you care that it's 1 in the morning (drive back to Wichita sucks. T_T)

I came to the Cauldron a complete newcomer. I had no idea what was going on, either on here, or at the stadium. On here (Bigsoccer) I got help finding tickets and figuring out how to pick them up at a will call (I've never done that before ^^;). I know that sounds dumb, but I hadn't expected to be put up with.

After that, I drove up there (3 long hours T_T) with my friend from Norway. Once we got there, we were pretty hungry. So we meandered over to the loudest and most packed part of the parking lot (go figure) and we asked where to get the food, and who to pay. We were shown, and not in the usual "I'm just telling you so I can get back to my conversation, so buzz of newbie" kind of way. When we asked about scarves, Shook was there to help us out (good thing too, I needed two to keep warm XD).

We got into the stadium, and I honestly hadn't had time to memorize all the chants. Thankfully, most of the ones sang were ones we caught onto fast. The part I liked was that my friend was actually taken aback a little bit. I think that's a good thing, that we were so enthusiastic about it. I loved the experience. Also, and here's the part I think you should all be proud of, I felt like a freeloader into the experience because I didn't know all the chants. It was a cool feeling to be a part of it, nontheless.

My evaluation? It was totally amazing. A great group of people that are friendly (so long as you don't wear orange) and who now how to have a good time. Hopefully, I can make it up to some more games. I might know some more cheers by then.

    Thanks again,

    t.z0n3

I'm glad you had a great, both during the tailgate and in the Cauldron during the game. Thanks for the feedback, it's always helpful the hear what people think about the section, especially those new to the section & the experience. Hopefully you will be able to make it back up for more games this season, when it's a little warmer.

I hope more people, when they wake up from their drunken slumber, add to this thread. There were good and bad parts from last night.

The section was a lot of the same from last year. Rarely did we have a "booming" chant. Our sound would be MUCH better if we had a more concerted effort to get the far reaches of the section (the Outlaws in the top corner and the people over directly behind the goal) together with the middle core. There were plenty of times that we literally had three chants going on at once. That's fine and all, but in the end it sounds like a jumbled mess. I think we may be getting a stand built for me to stand on and try to bring everyone together. We'll see how that progresses.

I love the location of the section in regards to where our tailgate is. You walk straight through the gates and right to the section. Can't beat that!

Note to the Argies: the freakin' game starts at 7PM, NOT 7:10PM. If you don't want to show up on time, that's cool. But don't slam into the section and push people aside because you "decided" to arrive. I doubt any of them are reading this, and I am going to go ahead and assume that this will be an issue (at least for me, but I heard others complaining too) all year.

The wind in our face certainly didn't help our "streamer plan" did it??? :)

All in all I think it was a good showing for our first game in a new home.

yeah a box or platform would be helpful, i sat in the front row and didn't know what chant to follow when there were 2 or 3 at once

We might just want to look at doing what Section 8 does, and alternate who stands on it. I mean I'm willing to get up there for a little while during the match as well.

Dude this has been a issue for 2 yrs now. I am glad to see have finally relized it. I am all for them being there but that isle was a mess. Oh btw they have already broke a section of bleacher backs that I am sure we will hear about too.

Agreed on concentrating everyone together. Sitting with the outlaws, it was hard if not impossible to hear anything from the other side of the Argies, so at times we were singing different things.

I have previously spoken with the FO about adding some sort of platform for a chant leader to stand on while leading chants. They are good with doing something, we just need to figure out what will work best.

As for the broken bleachers, I stayed in after everyone else left last night and talked with Chad & Sam, explaining what happened, how it happened and who was responsible. I don't know what may be done, but I am sure I will be getting a phone call about it. I was trying to do some damage control, we'll just how to see what happens.

Seriously, why don't we just get Ben to stand on top of the bleacher back and use me as a support beam like he did at Arrowhead like 75% of the time?

Cause you said you wouldn't be there as much this season so ben needs a new support beam. :)

I didn't get to make it to the game but i saw the highlights and the cauldron looked incredible. Way better than it was at arrowhead. It's nice having a small stadium b/c the atmosphere appears to be much better.

Def. planning on going to out next game on saturday.:D

One obvious solution would be to make sure we get in early and pack in down low--that way La Doce has plenty of room up higher. Hopefully that will prevent them from feeling the need to squeeze in and stand on the bleacher backs. I doubt it, but maybe.

Last night I stood on the bleachers, and even at some points I was on the back (sorry! I'll try and keep from it but I never broke one).

We need a stand that can get a person a couple of feet above everyone's heads.

I thought everything was pretty good, I suppose. It was pretty difficult to understand what chant was being started except for when I was able to communicate with Ben and/or Mike.

I think maybe, aside from a platform, if there was a sort of "I'm gonna start this during a lull" consensus from all over like we were doing later in the second half?

Overall, though, I love the new location!

Okay, just get a megaphone then. That's how they do it in the terraces.

What happened to last year's checkered megaphone? That seemed to work fine....

It's there, but wasn't really used last night. And even last year, I couldn't hear you when I was on the opposite side of the section.

That's fine, but at this point I think we'll be better to direct it in ward to get everyone on the same page, THEN project out to the rest of the stadium. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure exactly why but ive never liked the use of megaphones. Its not that necessary and annoying to hear on the tele.
