Well I'm guessing it's not Gooch...

So if this kid was spotted at the Dallas Cup, he'd have to be under, what 19? Isn't that the tournament age limit?

Also, Newcastle didn't have a team at the tournament (that I could see, though I did skim the site and could have missed it) so it wasn't someone they played against. I suppose scouts are everywhere at a gathering like that.

To be specific, it appears that it was Dennis Wise (Newcastle's director of football?) who "spotted" the player at the Dallas Cup. So they sent Wise to the tournament? If so, that's not just a scout.

I think this generation will be much better than the current crop of mid 20's for the USMNT. Here are a few names.

    Adu
    Altidore
    Bradley
    Edu
    Rogers
    Holden
    Sizzo
    Szetela

I might have missed a few. Both Adu and Bradley are already in top teams in Europe (though not top leagues). One is already a starter and leading scorer on the team. The other is getting regular minutes as a sub, and probably is the second leading scorer on the team based on minutes played.

Though that are not already in Europe (Edu, Rogers, and Holden) should be in Europe soon. I am not say thing these players will be your Nani, Anderson, Santos, or Krkic; but if their talents are fully developed in Europe (a la Adu/Bradley), they can certainly be much better than the current crop of Beasley, Convey, Dempsey, EJ, and even Donovan.

this is definitely off topic, but 2 Santos is probably the most overrated player in europe right now.

it will be exposed in time, so I am not worried. he is basically Cobi Jones.

Neri is the true prince on that team (mex). If he can stay healthy and get out of the EPL for spain, he is a world beater.

2 of those 3 have already been in Europe. They didn't accomplish anything and came home.

    hahaha :D

I would be suprised if any of them accomplished what Donovan or Beasley have already. EJ is a forward so he doesn't really compare to those three. Convey is useless so I certainly hope they are better than him. Dempsey is still early into his soccer career and I think he will keep playing forward.

Sorry for being part of the thread hijack with my previous post.

I think that this kid is probably some young teenager with a Euro parent that we've never heard of.

I've removed the off-topic post and the extracurriculars associated with it.

Let's try to stay within at least a few nautical miles of the thread topic, please.

I play for the Texans FC (U - 17) and i don't think its anyone there but my best guess is hes from the Dynamo (which take all the best players in the Houston area and make an academy team)

theres this one kid who plays for the U 19 dynamo and hes only 15 and the best player ive ever played with at the youth level or even seen at the youth level

While waiting for the Liverpool match, I watched Andromeda FC dominate Sao Paulo FC (though it might have been their third team as rumors have suggested) on the first day of the tournament. They're a local team and their striker with the mohawk type hair cut really stood out to me.

But it's the Sun and it's trash. ;)

one of the aforementioned 2-Holden, was actually quite good with Sunderland. His mgr at the time, Guy Smiley Mccarthy sat him down at the end of the season when they got promoted and basically told him playing time would be limited because he could foresee the prem. struggle in the coming season and felt he would have to rely on old hands. He gave stu the option of staying and sticking it out in the reserves or looking to get 1st team experience elsewhere. luckily for stu, the dynamo had just moved to houston and after his nightclub experience on tyneside, i don't think his mum was averse to having her eldest child back home.
