So Moses got high, got freaked out when he saw a bush set on fire by lightning and decided that the God of Thunder/Lightning dude must be really powerful and pissed off at the Jews? Makes sense.

These were found in a tel very near Hebron, dating to around 2338 BC. They are actual heads of an Edomite and a Gebusite. The cups used to put the "burning bush" in are re-wrought circumcision tools.

THe use of mind-altering substances in religious ceremonies has always been pretty widespread, but is there any specific evidence of narcotic use in Canaanite religions?

Where's the archaeological evidence? Where's the actual crack pipe used by Moses?

Ah, the science/religion divide. Funny thing is, mixing his beliefs with his probable (provable?) explanation for the events ain't gonna give him much credibility. Some science is best kept untouched.

I can see how after a couple of joints the bush would burn and burn for seemingly an eternity, without consuming itself.

But when it starts talking to you...when it starts identifying itself as God, and telling you to take off your shoes....

That has got to be more than just weed.

His argument doesn't hold together. Why would a hallucinagenic Moses record 10 commandments, especially stuff like not committing adultery and honoring your old man and his old lady?

I watched the movie about Moses. After that, I searched the web and found that scholars consider Moses as someone who is a part of legends, not historic facts.

Similar figure maybe existed in Transjordan, 13th century before the Christ. Egyptian sources don't mention him and also I don't see those love stories between Moses and Nefertari.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertari

According to the movie, Nefertari was in love with Moses, but Ramses II married Nefertari. In this movie, they depict Moses as Egyptian prince, but later was revealed that he was not an Egyptian.

It seems that behind every event stands some political issue. Hebrew people suffered under Egyptians. Is this also true, or it's an part of some higher poetic emotion?
