Montgomery County (Maryland) and the city of Rockville are switching over to Dodge Chargers: Not bad.
Those are what the staties here have in CO. Most local cops still have crown vics. I think a few suburbs have Impalas.
West Yorkshire Police tend to use Vauxhall Astra and Volvo conversions, but maintain a number of Subaru and super-car conversions to deal with the number of stolen high-performance cars. My bro is a police officer, so thanks to him for showing me where to find the info.
No super cars as for now, but the 'Gendarmerie' has some Subs On a more usual basis, they have Ford Focus breaks. Quite noticeable that they avoid French marques...I think it's a way to punish domestic constructors for not providing good deals. Those gendarmes (army corp assuming similar missions to the police but outside cities*) are rebels ! The Police usually have bland cars. Most of the time, French cars in the Golf, Civic section like Peugeot 308, Citroën Xsara and C4 or Renault Megane and their SW versions. That'd be fine to see a police version of the Bugatti Veyron but I think that would cost more than 50% of their allocated budget !
They have 3 VW's, a new Beetle, a mk4 Jetta, and a mk5 Jetta. I think it's kinda cool especially for us VW folks. From their website. http://www.winterspringsfl.org/EN/main/departments/police/vehicles.html
In Amsterdam they usually use VW Golfs for small patrols and Massive buses (Mercedes?) for riot control. In Germany it varies, most use German brands (exception is the saarland, wher french are more popular), so, depending on city and county, it's all VW, Ford (german made), Opel, BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz. There are some Exots like Porsche or Smart of course. some pics: The blue colour is the new one, the green traditional German. they are switching to blue at the moment (depending on Bundesland) to meet EU regulations.
The Lambo was a PR stunt (obviously). And so were these. A Spyker C8 Laviolette and a Porsche 997 TechArt.
Not in the UK it isn't. Even the Bradford division of West Yorkshire Police have a Subaru Impreza and a Murcielago to deal with thefts of high performance cars.
Maine State Police did as well, as I remember. And they had this big, fat blue strobe bars. Not sure what company made them, but Hartford Fire used to use those bars, but solid white. San Diego Police San Diego County Sheriff (about 200 ft from my house, in fact!).
but this is how the gendarmerie looked for decades and how i remember them: obviously no good for high speed chases. but as my FIL (a retired poulet) always used to say, "no need to drive after them; they can't outrun the radio!"
Well there IS a Renault 4 (the French call it 4L - read "qatrelle") that may outrun them : From the Dany Boon movie : "Rien à Déclarer" Speaking about the 4L : BTW, the Gendarmerie has lifted its ban on French marques as we can see on many of the French Alps murder case footages. Citroën C4 And they replaced the Subaru with a Renault Mégane RS for the high speed stuff. Similar power, similar top speed but front wheel drive. Concerning the "proper" French police vehicles, I don't know why but their last livery in date doesn't really inspire authority IMO. Maybe it's on purpose to smoothen their image...
In Malaysia the normal bribe collecters... errr.... police officers are mostly motorized by Proton. Other units get to drive more fancy Mitsubishis and Toyotas:
