Alright all you musically inclined people, I could use some help. My sister is getting married in July and for some odd reason has asked me (quite possibly one of the most unromantic, non sappy people alive) for help in picking a song for the recesssional from the church after tying the knot. Now, I can honestly say that I have never actually been to a church wedding so I have no idea what kinda stuff is played. My suggestion of "Another one bites the dust" was not taken well. So, if anyone has any grand ideas, feel free to throw them out because I have no desire to have my older sister call me a "turd head" again. :)

Sorry, kcguru. I've got nothing. I've never been a big marriage or church kind of person.

I'm so tired. My coffee has failed me. :(

The safe pick is classical music. See links in this answer for examples:

Whether you could get away with a pop/country/contemporary song probably depends on what type of church it is and how traditional the ceremony is going to be. Obviously, not all churches are the same.

For our wedding we started with "Can't Help Falling in Love." But it was faster like the Lick the Tins' version, not slow like Elvis' version. This song transitioned into "When I'm 64" by the Beatles. Don't know if your church is hip enough. It's fun to have faster, fun music at the end. It gets people in the mood to party at the reception. The lyrics for "When I'm 64" are perfect for a wedding.

When I get older losing my hair,
    Many years from now.
Will you still be sending me a valentine
    Birthday greetings bottle of wine.

If I'd been out till quarter to three
    Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
    When I'm sixty-four.

    You'll be older too,
And if you say the word,
    I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse
    When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
    Who could ask for more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
    When I'm sixty-four.

Every summer we can rent a cottage,
In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
    We shall scrimp and save
    Grandchildren on your knee
    Vera, Chuck & Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
    Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
    Yours sincerely, wasting away

Give me your answer, fill in a form
    Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
    When I'm sixty-four.
    :)

I hope to god we never see that GK again. I mean, seriously?

As I said in the N&A thread, that was some Suckskia Webber shit she did.

But we shutout Germany 2-0, so I'll take it. :D

Ha! Maybe I was channeling him.

I have a big box of cards and postcards and word documents. I'd have a suitcase full if my house hadn't burned down. And his road bike is arriving at my house on Monday. We rode the same size bike. I'll most likely be riding it in Chattanooga on May 3rd.

This week starts Spring Break for me. Woohoo! Too bad I still have to work, but it will be nice to actually get some sleep for a change and not have class every day.

March 20th I am taking #1 and two of her teammates to Nashville for the U-23 mens Oly qualifiers. We're sitting in the Sam's Army section. Her team has a game on Thursday before we go, so I doubt we'll be able to make it in time for the Thursday games, but look for us on FSC on Sunday. I'll be the old redhead* surrounded by three beautiful teenage girls. :D

*I may also be armed with a baseball bat.

    Wow. That's awesome, Mel. :)

Once in a while, I'll go through old KK threads as sort of a 'looking back' exercise. Not just for him, but for some of the other posters we've lost over the years.

I can't believe I've been on BigSoccer for almost 8 years.

Do you mean that being a BigSoccer Moderator is not your full time job?:D

Speaking of work, I have to work on Sunday; I bought 25 computers and 16 Tablet PC's that I need to put together in the next couple of days...
Oh well, I guess that will make time pass by until the Olympic qualifying...

Good lord... I wish! Why don't you put in a good word to Huss on my behalf. Maybe you can convince him to pay me for services rendered! ;)

I hate when I screw up my sleeping habits. I didn't go to sleep until 6:30 a.m. and didn't wake up until about 4:30.

    Ugh.

And a Norway news outlet reported that the new league will be looking at the addition of 30 non-American players, making between $28,000 and $50,000 a year.

(The No. of players looks iffy to me, but I think it's the first time anyone has reported how many internationals may be coming over.)

Sleeping habits... remind me again, what are those? With all the extra waking up early due to the 4NT and the Algarve, the time change, a dog with overactive bladder and a cat that scratches my window whenever he feels like coming in (right about 3 am); I have no recolection on what those "habits" might be.

By the time that I get back on rythm, I bet it would be time for the Olympics..

    *sigh*

    Exactly!

My "sleeping habits" consist of falling asleep during lectures and any time I sit still for more than ten minutes at a time. I've quit going to movies since I can't stay awake to watch them and paying $9.50 for a nap is not very cost effective. :p

Yeah, I'm really excited to get it. I helped him pick it out when he bought it.

I know what you mean about looking back. I do that a lot, too. I miss a lot of the old KKers. Good times.
