Not much solid in the way of names but it was reported in local paper that they had signed 14 players already, but were waiting for the offical announcement So far the offical names Ive seen are Stephen Armstong, Ian Fuller, Chris Corcoran, Luke Kreamameyer, Darren Spicer, Nate Norman, and from a newpaper release; Dusty Hudock. http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/jan/28/battery_applauds_expanded_more_balanced_28847/ others Ive hear un offiicla are Brandon Curran, Byron Alvarez, and Keith Wiggins another likely returnee is Andre Tousaint, reporst fom his iterenational duty with TnT have talk of him returning as well. Another one seen working out and playing is Johnny Wilson, he want to play here and I think his experience woud be great on the back line. So that is 12 of the 14 Auggie mentions in the paper, the others are likely returnees and I imagine there will be som signees from the two trials. Hpefully well get a "big" name or two to fill the other two slots. Mikey
The club likes to keep their name in the paper, so that's another reason for the bits and pieces approach.
John Wilson announced! Also Jack Stewart from RSL http://www.charlestonbattery.com/news.asp?y=2008&page=1&id=352 also noticed they updated the roster page on the website 8 Lazo Alavanja 16 Stephen Armstrong 12 Chris Corcoran 18 Brandon Curran 11 Ian Fuller 1 Dusty Hudock 14 Aaron King Luke Kreamalmeyer 3 Kevin Nylen 15 Mike Richardson 13 Louie Rolko Jack Stewart 7 Andre Toussaint 30 Keith Wiggans 25 John Wilson Darren Spicer (I added) Nate Noman (I added) noice no Alvarez as of now
as of now Id say fair to good. someone recently took the time to add and delete names from the Battery's webpage. Lazo incusion wasnt an oversite im sure. Most likely he has a clause in a current contract that would allow him (or the club) an out but I would think with what im hearing from the club, coaches and players is that this year they dont want to rebuild and while Lazo left some to be desired, is a known and we know what his potential is. he will have a lot more support on the back line with the addition of Stewart and Wilson. He still had six assist last year and if he can ever get his head and knee over the ball he will have an accurrat shot to go along with the power he has. Mikey
Thanks Mikey. I was watching Fox Soccer Channel tonight where New Jersey was playing California in MISL and saw Lazo score a rocket shot. I think he had two goals. He's also the Captain of NJ. If he can bring that momentum back to Charleston this year he can be a big asset as well as a leader.

Here's the updated roster, as of today's press release, but there are probably a few more surprises coming. 8 Lazo Alavanja M/F 6-1 165 1/18/1977 Crown Point, IN 16 Stephen Armstrong M 5-10 165 7/23/1976 Cape Town, South Africa Brian Bell D 6-2 182 7/20/1986 Houston, TX 12 Chris Corcoran D 5-9 165 3/30/1983 Marshfield, MA 18 Brandon Curran D 6-2 190 10/13/1980 Tyngsboro, MA 11 Ian Fuller F 6-2 170 8/31/1979 Portland, OR 1 Dusty Hudock GK 6-3 188 9/4/1972 Phoenix, AZ 14 Aaron King F 6-1 180 7/26/1984 Denver, CO Luke Kreamalmeyer M 5-9 170 9/28/1982 Edwardsville, Illinois Nate Norman M 6-1 170 3/2/1985 Rochester, MI 3 Kevin Nylen D 6-3 181 5/27/1982 Ipswich MA Marco Reda D 6-2 180 6/22/1977 Woodbridge, Ontario 15 Mike Richardson M 5-11 175 9/2/1985 Dobson, NC 13 Louie Rolko M 6-0 172 9/7/1984 Hudson, Ohio Darren Spicer F 5-11 170 8/27/1983 Diamond bar, CA Jack Stewart D 6-2 180 5/29/1983 Torrance, CA 7 Andre Toussaint F 5-9 160 8/26/1981 Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago 30 Keith Wiggans GK 5-11 175 9/6/1981 Charleston, SC 25 John Wilson D 5' 9" 170 10/26/1977 Seneca, SC
A good group of experienced pros shaping up. Seem to be going for a little older player.....kinda reminds me of 2003!! Still like to see another striker or 2...preferably a proven one.
Acquire proven striker.....check Acquire 2nd striker.....check I think we're ready now. Let's Roll...
Anyone have any word on Armando Romero?? Is he expected to re-sign?? Or does it look like he'll be looking for another club??
I have word that T&T players Kern Cupid and Randi Patterson signed. Can someone confirm? This is from a TTFF press release and I don't always trust them 100%.
Both played in a scrimage against the College of Charleston, but I think Mr. O is right Patterson signed but Kern is on a trial I imagine he will get a lok at during the tournament with the MLS clubs that starts here on Saturday.
Mikey, was Cupid the left back in the 2nd half of the scrimmage? If it was, he was hooking up with Kenga pretty well on the left side.
Im pretty sure that was him. I think the right side was a Jamacian guy on trial. of course that left back belongs to Johnny Wilson
Since they were both called back for an international friendly on the 19th they would miss the game vs. Quakes, but they are supposed to come down Sunday, so maybe we'll see them vs. New York.
that would be Kendall Jagdeosingh (almost positive that is what they announced). I think he is under contract with Joe Public at the time.
nothing solid, but a friend his friend said he was back in Virgina going to school. Ill see if I can dig up anything more solid for you. Mikey
